Hey lads,

Now, I know forums and I know searches and although I did find what I was looking for, they were to old to post in (just etiquette).
I am needing some confirmation on a few simple mods, most are the first done to the truck by any Ram owner.

1) - What exhaust offers the DEEPEST sound for these trucks? Without pissing anyone off, I have heard quite a few of these trucks on videos etc and to tell you the truth they sounded exactly like whiny rice. NOT my scene. While doing searches I saw that around 80% opted for Magnaflows and most of those people saying that they love the deep sound, so, they sound like they're for me. But, are there any other companies that make deep sounding exhausts that you guys are using?

2) - What is the part # for the Magnaflows that every is using? I would imagine there would only be a couple of options from Magnflow if that. Can someone kindly advise the part # I need. It's for a catback system on a RC. While I'm here, are there any other legal mods to make the truck have a deeper rumble and tone?

3) - When you talk about the brakes and hydraulics upgrade, what does that do exactly? Is it that much of an improvement like every says it is or is it just a safety thing? Where can I get a kit, how much and any part #s? I have heard the clutch may need an upgrade to match the engine (weak clutch) but would rather wait to drive one myself first.

Why ask with no truck? Because when I do get one, which I will, I want to get the exhaust and these items shipped with the truck to save on shipping. :burnout: Thanks and sorry about the newb questions.

Cheers,
Carl

Hey Carl,

Lotsa guys like the Magnaflow..... I don't because it's to "blappy" sounding for me.... I have the Borla with no cats and It sounds great to me.....

I believe that the brakes are fine... They stop super good and are very sensitive...

The clutch hydraulics kit should run you about 500 bucks (US) and you should re-route or at least shield the clutchlines away from nearby heat sources for maximum protection....

Good luck, bro....

Thanks D. Sorry, my bad I typed the wrong thing, I meant the clutch hydraulics, not brakes.

What exactly do you mean by: "blappy"? Are you able to describe it a little better? You mean like backfiring on deceleration or something?

Thanks for the tip on the re-routing. :)

On the "blappy" issue: I guess what I mean is that on deceleration the Borla gurgles really nicely... It has a nice round sound to it. Whereas, to my ear, the Magnaflow is more metallic and (yes) kinda like a backfire....

I think the Magnaflow is just a bit more wide open sounding.... To me, the Borla sounds more refined like a fine sports car...... Actually, I think my truck has a sound that most closely resembles a big block marine engine than anything else....

Please understand that sound quality is among the most subjective things in the world..... Some guys love the Magnaflow.. It's simply pleases their ear.... Some guys will be honest and say they bought another system cuz they didn't like the Borla or the Magnaflow.... It's really a tough choice...

I wish you luck......

The first time I heard a Borla on a small block Chevy Regency pickup, I knew it was the sound I was looking for....

The biggest improvement in sound will come from cutting your cats out... That's a fact.

Good Luck, my friend...

Just remember, you will never get the V-10 to sound like a V-8! It will never be that deep on acceleration!

just like a V-12 will never sound like a V-10!

Thanks for the replies lads, much appreciated. Thus far I am leaning Magnaflow just from the feedback and searching I have done. From the headers back system sounds nice, is that a Magnaflow system or? If I remove the Cats, does that deepen the sound any or just make it louder?

Marc-T - Yup, I will get over the fact it doesn't have the V8 rumble. Owning the two E-Bodies (440 & Hemi) definitely give me my V8 fix so I think this V10 will be a nice change. I've owned a few V8s in my young time but never a V10. I like the sound they make. If I had to describe the Viper engine I'd say it's Americas version of a Ferrari or exotic Euro race engine.

Thanks once again. :)

I felt the cat removal made it louder, and more "cammy" sounding..... now even though I am blown.. and that affects sound somewhat.. I like mine at idle, and love the sound after about 2500-2700rpm.... I've been told that from the outside as I go by some at WOT, it sounds like a tornado...

I have the B&B and it has a very deep tone to it. Just like everything else you get what you pay for.

Silly question but what does B&B sand for or what is that brand?
Yup, I have no issue paying the money for a good product, I've never been one to do things by halves. :)

Thanks for the input azpyroguy, I'll have to check if the warranty is still void in NZ and if removing thew cats voids it.

B&B = Billy Boat Exhaust.

This is what I am running, Gibson Headers cat delete and B&B!!

It is loud but doesn't sound anything like a V-8, sure turns heads though!!:D

Thanks Marc-T ;) I may look into it once I have driven the truck and weighed up my options.
I don't mind loud, the 'Cuda has electric exhaust cut outs & no sound deadening so loud won't be a concern from this truck lol. :)

I sent the clip via email..see if that works!

Thanks for that Lance, much appreciated. Sounds nice to me mate!
I think I'll settle with Magnaflow, seems to be the most popular one.

Magnaflow with cat delete will give you an awesome sound imo.... i've never heard B&B in person but have heard Borla and it just doesn't sound like the Magnaflow is the best way I can put it...good luck!!
