About the size of the ones I have in my crank.:D

I don't know the exact size but I think they were 1/4" diameter and 1" in length. Send Sean at Roe an email.

i have a brand new kit from roe sitting here and the are 1.5" long and 8/32" inch wide... they're a lil tapered on each end and the are not solid the are like a rolled shhep of metal

well, we got it pinned Sat night. My Dad didnt want to wait so he made a gige "like ROES" and we pinned it, it was nerve racking - to know you drilling your crank :(

we pinned it with 2 sold pin's - 1" long 1/4" dia drilled the hub and crank sliped the pins in there and lock tight the pins, then put it all back together :D

also with the crank bolt - mine is 1-1/4" i think it has to be tq'ed 250 lbs is this correct ? and i removed the hub to make the gig - i didnt see maked anywhere to put it back on do i pressed it back on there b4 i drilled it - would this matter ?

130 ft/lbs on the crank bolt. I learned the hard way that this is important. Some lock tight wouldnt hurt either!! If I remember correctly, you want the dampner on crank so you can drill the pin holes through the dampner and the crank. The pins hold the dampner to the crank (in thoery). Not so much if the crank bolt comes loose though :( Mine sheered right off! Motor is just about done though nearly a year later!!

Man these kind of stories make a man cringe! I checked it less than a year ago, the engine began to turn with the bolt to I figured it was pretty tight. Is this kit still available with the jig or should I just take the bolt out and use some super glue? :D

Just to let everybody know some cranks have different size bolts. One is a 14mm that needs to be torqued to 130ft lbs and a 3/4 Bolt that needs to be torqued to 250ft lbs. Mine sheered the pins that came with the Paxton kit so I went with the 1/4" pins from Roe and hadn't had a lick of trouble ( knock on wood).

Heres what it looks like after its been done. The hole that you drill goes half into the crank and half into the balancer. The jig from Sean works extremely well and Im not so sure I would do this with the proper jig. These cranks are way too expensive to mess up by not buying the $70 kit from Roe.

thanks for the info...

Mr. Roe sent me all the info i needed to built the gig for the pinning - and dale "tinygiants" sent me some info too - it's not like i was flying blind :)

and my Dad is a machinist - and im an engineer so it was nothing to make the gig needed to pin it - and yes 70 is a little amout of money - it was not about putting the $$ out

steve aka sannaQueen said he would send me his and Matt devil dog said the same i talk to both of them b/4 i pinning it and JTSVP as well so i am confident it done correctly :)

i just cant wait to start it up :)
