for summer time fun???

15-50 Mobile1 seems to work great in mine and Walmart carries it.......5qts,$26 10-60 is BMW M-series spec, should be good stuff..........

BTW, how much was that per QT???? It's an Ester V based synthetic, which is really good stuff...........

It's normally $12/qt. I got that box of 12 for $5.66/qt on ebay. The guy crashed his car before he could use it, and it was listed in auction form, and nobody else bid.

10-60! Wow, oil has come a long way! I used to work in the auto parts biz and would mess with people about 0 weight oils...I would tell them to be careful when they open the bottle or the oil will float away...lol

I have always used 15w50 mobile full synthetic and even in summer time with height temps and turbos I've never had a tick. Wonder if that 10-60 would be ok for my turbos

Opinions on oil seem to run the gamut, like everything else on our trucks. MoPar filter and oil change every 3,000 miles will eliminate most problems. If the engine is ticking seems to me that thicker oil is just filling a loose tolerance that should not be there anyway. :dontknow: I've had my 10 since 15K miles (now have 60,000+) and never heard a ticking. I don't even here the ticking you guys are talking about on a cold morning when starting up. Hmmm, is my engine too tight? :dontknow: :D

My buddies 10 with 5,000 miles sounded the same way mine does with 75,000......

Sewing machine sound when hot........

I may catch some flack from this, but where did the sewing machine sound is bad thing come from? I've actually designed valvetrains when I worked at CAT and the lead engineer always told me a well designed valvetrain should sound just like a sewing machine.

I don't get what you guys are trying to do. The reason I say this is because the 50 or 60 weight oil is when it's cold. When it get hot it thins out to 0. 5, 10, 15 or whatever oil your running. Sounds like you would want to go to a 15-40 so you have a heavier weight when it's hot. :dontknow:

You have it backwards. The first number is how badly it will thicken cold, the second number is how thin it will be hot. Lower first number is always better. Second number is thickness at operating temp. Ie 10w-60, won't thicken more than a 10wt cold, will be a 60wt oil at 200F.

I had a brain fart. I'm tired. More monster energy drink please!
