Far left coast here ( Humboldt County). I live in a "no smog" area but I am alittle worried about causing a brush fire on an extremely dry day. Does anyone know the risks associated with deleting cats? (front or both)I am in Northern California.

 Cats cause fires because of the high temps it takes to make them work.

lack of cats do greatly reduce risk of catchin the country side on fire.
they burn at a few hundred degrees even after you shut the engine off.
have heard several stories about fires started by cats when cars are parked in fields

always liked the one about the lady & her Cadillac. burned it to the ground, lol. hate Cadillacs.
course that was in the early years of cats.

might make a nice little poll:

how many folks here remember the dimmer switch on the floor????

Yeah we often are called to the Interstate because of a State Trooper's exhaust sets the shoulder on fire while on a traffic stop. It is almost always right under the cats.

I saw an episode of COPS where an officer was chasing a truck that had been stolen and when his patrol car got stuck ,the cats set the brush under his car on fire and totally destroyed it before fire dept. got there

Spare shells and stuff were going off like firecrackers.

Delete those cats !!!!!!! Least expensive mod you can do (you don't need catless mid pipes, just take them out / a LOT of shops won't do this) and good for 15-20 HP.

Yup,
How about wipers that operated off of fuel pump vacuum (Ramblers) and manual windshield washer foot-pumps?

I may only be 24 but I did drive a 72 Olds Cutlass Convertible for 3 years to high school. I LOVED it. Dimmer switch on the floor, key for the trunk lock, and if the conv. top switch messed up (which did often) you could man handle it up and down. Man I miss that car!

ok feeling a bit sheepish...

I remember now, from my days living in the Detroit suburbs, every fall they would warn us about parking over the piles of leaves raked into the street because the cats caused fires.

I also heard deleting cats caused fire to shoot out the tail pipe at times, apparently thats not the issue then...(tailpipe flames causing brush fires.)

Pricewise, what would I be looking at to install a full exhaust from Mopar long tubes or belangers to straight pipes to a magnaflow or Borla setup ?
