Are the springs stiffer, is ride height any diff, is ride any diff?

From Truck Trend:

"The SRT10 also gets the new hydroformed, fully boxed frame, and, with it, changes to the suspension.

While the overall layout of the front suspension is the same as the 2005, there were modifications to its components. In addition to all of the Ram 1500's suspension changes, the SRT10 has larger rubber lower control-arm bushings, tuned for lateral and vertical compliance. The lowering springs, unique to the SRT10, receive new spring rates for 2006 and the Bilstein shocks were retuned. The front anti-roll bar is thicker, going from 33mm to 38.

In the rear, the geometry remains the same, but those shocks also were retuned, and there is a new lowering suspension with a power-hop control system (for the Regular Cab), which comes with snubber springs and an anti-windup monotube shock.
The Regular Cab receives a 23mm anti-roll bar in back, while the Quad Cab does not.--A.H."

I think that is another rag wagging their tongues without knowing what they are talking about. All RC's have the snubber type traction bars, not just the 06's. I really think they were comparing the regular 1500 with the SRT.

Is the anti-hop monotube shock new, or is that also existing? (existing since '04 I see now)

What he's saying is new:
Front:
- thicker anti-roll bar (38mm vs 33)
- new front lowering spring rates
- re-tuned bilstein shocks
Rear:
- re-tuned bilstein shocks
- lowering suspension (powerhop control sys = monotube shock & snubbers)

It's on mine.

Yup - existing since 2004 according to a photo I just saw too.

Who knows what is new then...doesn't Dodge even say there were supposed to be suspension changes?

I would be surprised if Dodge made any changes beyond the cosmetic changes that were carried over to the entire truck line. They still had a bunch of 05's that had not sold. Would not have made much sense to invest in other changes for such a limited production run of 06's.

True if it were just the SRT line, but the whole Ram 1500 line was changed. Frame and suspension is always quoted as changed for 2006 Ram 1500 so I can't imagine the SRT didn't change while the others did.

I guess you guys at the Nats will have to compare a 2005 RC and 2006 RC side-by-side to get the final analysis. Perhaps the components aren't NEW, just DIFFERENT and/or IMPROVED.

This was right from the SRT Team in a chat session.

"The 2006 Ram SRT-10 front springs (both Std. and Quad) are stiffer by approx. 20-30% and the check heights are taller by 1/2 inch to specifically address the '06 chassis geometry improvements."

That should pretty much answer all questions

I know that the pass. seat shakes when i go over bumps when no ones in it! Also the frame is boxed and any other questions ill be glad to answer.

my parts catalog shows the same spring from 04-06 for the RC.
I assume you are referencing the SRT-10 Regular Cab and not the standard 1500.

If so, is it the same part number as the 2005 catalog shows for 2004-2005 Ram SRT-10? What I'm wondering is, could it possibly be the 2006 catalog is now recommending the 2006 SRT spring part# be used for 2004 and 2005 SRT trucks as well (superseding/replacing 2004/2005 spring part#)?

It has been said that, while the geometry stays the same, the SRT springs are stiffer in 2006.
So that means the springs are interchangeable throughout the years, and the decision could be made to just list one spring for the SRT-10, be it the old one or the new one.

My passenger side seat belt knocks off the side of the truck and makes this rattle noise that drives me insane! I absolutly hate rattles! Is your seat actually moving around or could it be the same as mine? (I have noticed when somebody is seating in that seat, the seatbelt does not rattle.)

This is what I was referring to. I was hoping you officionados could confirm this. Do you think this means the RC ride ht is up 1/2"?

One other thing. Do you know the front ride ht diff betwn an SRT RC & QC? Is the QC front 1" higher @ the wheel wells?

I have found that mine will do this occasionally, but seat belt is twisted when this happens. I straighten it out and the rattle is gone.

Thre only rattle I get is between my ears.

Bill.

More beer will help. It adds to your fluid count and helps fill the cavity between your skull and brain. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it until such time as I can come up with a better one.

BILL'S GOT A SECRET.:D
