i still use a little bit of oil.. i'm due for an oil change and ithink i sucked down 3qts.. but the trucks never driven easy lol

Larry mine did, not so much as the ring seating( didnt have blow by) mine was I beleive the lines. But I went 20w50 and have not lost any oil yet?

Hmmm...When my engine quit using oil was when I tried 20w50....after the change it used a QT the first 400 miles, another QT at 800 miles then none during the next 1300.

I used 10/40 the last oil change using the rationale that it would be better to use thinner oil during the winter months. I have driven 300 miles on the 10w40 and still is on the full mark...

What 20w50 did you use? maybe that helped seat the rings better? I know my temps barely hit 185 now (well before the 45degs hit)

I use Royal Purple.........my temps had also started staying below 185 a couple month ago...before the temp stayed 190-195...I had assumed maybe the 69LB injectors were the cause but I had changed the oil to the 20w50 about the same time so maybe that was the cause?..:dontknow: ....though still staying down with the 10w40..

I usually add two quarts between oil changes (at 3k).
