drove my truck for the first time yesterday since the rebuild and woodys accident. I finished woodys engine about a week before i finished mine, and i got the courage yesterday to put it back on the road. I had decided to sell it but my family convinced me to keep it.We did have a lot of fun with the trucks. The only difference now is that i will never run it on the street again. My wife has a shelby and we use to run them a small rural airport outside of augusta, she would always pull me about three lenghts with the s/c. We went down early this morning and run and she can only pull me by about 1 and a half with the mechanical build. I am really impressed with the engine compared to before. I would suggest to the guys who are just starting out to look closley to building their motors before they start adding s/c or nitrous. The cost is expensive but so are the other options.

Glad your not selling man. Good to see your enjoying the truck again especially with your wife in her shelby.

Did they ever find out if Woody had a medical issue, which might have caused his accident?

the autopsy was unclear , the reason why is woody was really in bad shape after the accident, he had a broken neck, back broken in 4 places, his ribcage crushed his heart so they could not tell if he did or didnt have a heart attack, they are running some kind of lab work now maybe that will say something. what we did learn is that his side airbags di not open at all and that his front airbags di not open until approx. 2 minutes after the accident according to the witnesses at the scene. and that is why his chest took the full impact of the steering column.

I hate to hear that about the airbags not working properly. We can only hope they will work for someone else if they ever need them. God forbid! Glad you got your courage up. I'm with Bob, Woody smiles when you rev up that SC!

thanks bob, that is what my family says and woodys family says the same thing. And they are right these trucks were a big part of our friendship. Out of all the performance vehicles that we owned over the past 25 years , me and woody had more fun with these 2 trucks than any of them.

No, after my engine blew, i decided to remove it and try a different route, we went back with the roe on woodys. We were gonna line them up afterwards to see who came out on top but never got the chance. I was kidding him while i was putting them together, I told him i am building both do you think that i am going to build yours faster?

Yeah, and it sucks. To top that, its my wife, try living that down. But im gaining, after 25k im gaining.

Yellow venom , seeing your truck brings back memories too. I had a yellow fever in 05. But a judge said it had to go. I got clocked by the gsp at 151. So i sold it. But she didnt say i couldnt have another one . So i bought the black 06.

so even with youre build you still get beat by a mustang

to beat a shelby, you gotta beat it with another shelby, a shelby dodge!!! lol :burnout:  :burnout:

I had a Shelby Dakota. #601. Very fast truck for it's day. Nothing like the SRT though. Think it had 190 HP stock but only weighed about 3400 lbs.

I noticed in Pirate's post that the air bags did not deploy on Woody's truck. I saw another post awhile back on a different site I think about a guy who rolled his 10 and totalled it. His airbags did not deploy either. The reason for my post is that now seeing two cases of no airbag deployments on major crashes I am starting to wonder if there is a problem with the airbags in the Rams. Anybody have any info on defects with airbag deployments on the Ram?
