does anyone here with a vec2/vec3 have an economy tune for their trucks? if so, what is different from the stock programming, and does it get better fuel economy etc, thanks

I dont know about the program for tunes only being different on closed loop!! What closed loop does different from regular driving and open loop is not make any adjustment based upon the O2 sensors, engine temp etc.. and runs a preset program for WOT. My truck with a stage II flash idles differently (I know the RPM has been adjusted but it sounds different too). Also the truck has a whole different feel with the accelerator all together. With my K & N intake I can even hear the sucking sound earlier and its quite a bit louder. Its louder then my buddies turbo'ed WRX STI with a K & N short ram intake! It sure as hell didn't sound like that before the tune and none of this is WOT. Its my understanding that all the parameters have been changed with the flashes. But my 93 Octane Tune has increased my MPG so I guess any tune or VEC upgrade should increase your economy!! You just have to drive it accordingly!mmmmtorque said:VEC2/3 and PCM flash programs kick in after you go into open loop (about 1 second after you hit WOT) Therefore, the only way to get any type of economy out of the truck is to drive it like a grandma or push it![]()

AWDisuzu said:someone built a device to kill half the cylinders when cruising to save gas. I tested driving on 5 cylinders on a trip to arizona. I got 18 mpg instead of 11.5-12 like usual. i had NO power though. someone (more clever than me) really should build a device to kill cylinders on the fly. I'd buy that in a second.

woe, I second this lol Group buy?? Somebody make this...AWDisuzu said:someone built a device to kill half the cylinders when cruising to save gas. Prof said:This is not a Prius...if you folks want an economy vehicle you may have made a mistake in the original purchase. I understand that Vpr Helr has a long drive to work (Ottawa to... was it Sarasota?) but if your trip to work is shorter than that, drop mpg from your list of worries...you are pissing into the wind.
04 Hemis don't have MDS.mopower1958 said:Dodge already has that in the HEMI.Its called MDS (Multiple displacement system) My '04 RC gets 18 on the highway and 11.5 in town with a Stage II pcm, gibsons, magnaflow,K&N & 4.56 gear.

(Assuming of course you could drive it long enough with the throttle off of the floor).![]()

Around town...no way to tell...I spend a lot of time at advanced throttle positions and going no miles at all...oh yeah, the odometer is advancing but the truck isn't moving....ain't it fun!!!!!!!:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
