And that's STOCK...... very VERY few of those EVO VIII's are stock around here. That little 2.0L motor is capable of over 600 (relatively reliable) HP w/ stock internals.... just a few bolt-ons. ;)
 
They are not 400 HP here in the states. I believe they are 330.

Hell. I was going to keep my mouth shut on this.:eek:

I personally believe it was staged a little. On a few of those shots it appeared that the Lambo was really pulling it out of the corners by a bunch, and then all of a sudden the Evo was back on it's tail.

Not saying that the Evo is not a bad little car for the money, but it's no Lambo by any means.

I just looked it up on the Mitsu website. It looks like the Evo 8 comes with a 286 hp power plant. Kind of a jip when it comes with a 400 hp motor elsewhere.
 
the evo u have in the usa is 280 hp , in the UK (only) they have a special model that is 405 hp , it has a bigger turbo and forged internals but costs almost 80,000 USD !!

these lil monsters are incredible , mine is fully built stroked 2.3 (lol) engine w/worked head ,alcohol injection , GT37R , motec m800 , twinplate clutch etc...(over 30k in mods ). it its a f***n rocket 550 hp in these cars is fassssst as hell , when i was almost stock i smoked a stock 330hp m3 real bad , it was smoking the tires (4 of them ) in first ... i love it to death :rock: will be drag racing w/ a Ruf porsche 911 (550+hp ) later this month , will get you the video
 
Forming Eclipse owner here and have driven several evo's, same 4g63 powerplant. The 286hp is way conservative....they are pounding out far more power than that. All I can say is I will not line up beside one, was actually thinking of picking one up for a daily driver. Here in Dallas you can get them with close to 600 WHP straight from the dealer. I believe it is an alamo motorsports package....similar to a saleen mustang (sorta). Of course most of the warranty is shot right out of the box but hell, that's quite a rocket to pick up from the stealership.

They seemed to have worked out the kinks in the motor....I had a 2nd gen 4g63 and it had issues with a "walking crankshaft". I essentially dropped in a built first gen motor and 10g's later I had a monster. I was running low 11's in the quarter on street rubber for fun.
 
Oh ya, the lambo was likely pulling on the evo until the turbo was spooled. That was also an FQ400 which is a different car than the evo you see here in the states. Same powerplant, just larger turbo, intercooler, etc....
