About 3 years ago I bought the infamous set of McLaren race headers from a member of the forum. Had them hanging from the rafters in the basement just waiting to pull the trigger. Trigger was pulled a few months ago, couldn't be happier.
First thing to do was make sure they actually fit my '05 RC. And if they didn't, what needed to be done to get them in. So I removed the complete OEM system. With the front end jacked up, front wheels off, and inner fender wells out I started installing each pipe individually. Tricky part was figuring which pipe to install first since they wrap around each other like spaghetti. After installing both left and right side pipes I slid underside on the creeper and slipped on the collectors for both sides. Snugged the bolts for the pipes to the heads and the bolts connecting pipes to collectors. These babies fit like a glove!!
Ok....the big hurdle is cleared, they fit perfectly with no mods needed. I removed the headers and sent them to Calico Coatings in Denver, NC for their Koolchrome ceramic coating on the inside and outside. When I got them back I was very impressed with the finish, along with the reasonable cost to do them.
Next was to install them with OEM exhaust gaskets and using the Stage 8 header bolts.....love these things!!
The headers already had 2 bungs installed on each for O2 sensors. I installed new front O2 sensors, and in the remaining bungs I installed Wideband A/F sensors. So now I have a A/F gauge for the Left and right cylinder banks. I tied both the rear O2 sensors up and clear.
I knew I wanted the Billy Boat catback system, so that was ordered up. Now the other dilema.....the headers had a "V-band" clamping system instead of the usual 3 hole flange. Needed to find somebody to make some custom mid pipes. Jumped on the internet and found a guy 50 miles north of me that has a custom shop and a fabricator mostly for the racing world. Furo Racecraft is the business name, Harold is the owner and the 1 man shop operator. After discussing the project with him, we set a date and I trailered the truck up to him.
Everything turned out perfect! In order to make the Billy Boat work he welded the V band system to the inlet side of the muffler, then constructed a beautiful set of catless custom mid pipes that can be removed in minutes if needed.

Overall I couldn't be happier!! The sound is unreal!! Big thanks to Harold at Furo Racecraft, check his website out at furoracing.com
He has a ton of pics on his facebook page also.

Will get a sound clip out soon!

From what I understand there were two sets made. One set was used on an engine while dyno testing. The set I got was the back-up set and was never used. I believe the dyno set was destroyed.

Oh yeah!! Been out a few times with it, my butt gauge felt a difference. Sure is nice to finally make some noise with the truck. Next is to get somes tunes from Torrie. Got a barrel of Sunoco in the garage just begging to get used!

It's a 40'x50' building. No matter how big you build them, it's never big enough, lol. A man needs a place to escape certains times of the month, lol.
