So not the best night to race, temp that day in Bakersfield was 107, Track opened at 6 pm, racing started at 8 pm, at 10 pm it was still 102, DA at the track was at 3900+ feet and was down to 3600(3596 to be exact) , at midnight, My best run of the night was 11.41 @ 125.92, corrected time (which I don't count, but it shows the potential), 10.961 @ 130.026. I knew the air would be bad but I wanted to work on my 60' times. Previous best with the new motor and suspension had been in the 1.80 range. I had put the slicks on to drive to the track and thought they had 20lbs of air, silly me I did not check before leaving. I checked the tires before my first run, while I was already in the staging lane...low and behold they were at 12 lbs......no time to inflate, so I tried a hard launch at 4500 rpm....best 60' ever...1.58..... but oh was it scary on the high end , I was all over the track at over 100 mph....no fun at all. After that run I was back at 16 lbs and the next 2 runs were ok on the high end. Last run at midnight was the 11.41, not bad for 3600' DA. I had an interesting match race against another SRT-10 single cab (red 2005). After I had teched in I was letting the truck cool and saw the other SRT-10, looked stock, even the 22" wheels, so I thought he had no chance, but his hood was up and he had a Paxton supercharger install, so I thought ok this might be fun. We talked, nice guy, but his first time at the track with the truck, said it dynoed at 580 to the tires. Just as a side note, mine was on the dyno at 4pm, 107 degrees and I made 703 at the rear wheels with MS109 fuel. Well the race wasn't close, DA was at 3900+, I ran an 11.75 @ 123.83.....he ran 15.071 @ 95.14....oops, not too close, but he was a nice guy, a friendly handshake, and he will learn. Interesting, several of his friends knew who Trainman was and had seen several videos and the build of the truck here on the VTCOA, kinda cool. So when the weather is cooler I hope to crack the 10's. I'm sure there will be some videos soon, Brad was there the whole night, Big Thanks to Brad!!!! He does a great job.
