I love lamp
Reading through past posts i noticed someone tinted their taillights with a viper head (im assuming) showing through with no tint. I could not find who it was.

I am planning on spray tinting my taillights and thought that sounded like a badass idea.

Does anyone have tinted taillights with a viper head or srt or some other cool image showing through. If so could i see a pic?

Also do you have to remove taillights to spray or can you just mask off the truck?

I dont have a design in mine. But all you'd have to do is get the design and lay it down. First thing is yes you should take them off...you can do them on the truck but its harder to wet sand and the risk of overspray. Its really easy though. First thing wet sand the lights, clean it off. I used VHT night shade (autozone or advanced autoparts. $10 a can) Spray your first two coats light and tacky. then your third should be a wet coat. 3 coats usually does it but if you want to you go as dark as you want. Clear coat to finish and wet sand with 2000 grit then buff to shine. If you dont clear coat it will look fine but if you ever go through a car wash often eventually it will slowly thin the night shade out. if you mess it up before you clear coat its a simple fix just use some paint thinner and it comes right off. then start over. Simple and easy. I suggest once youre done with your coats of VHT put it on the truck look at it in day and night take a trip around the block with someone else driving and your following to see if someones going to rear end you cuz they cant see. then pull them off and clear coat/wet sand and buff. there are a few write ups on there though as well that are more detailed. Over all simple. Takes about 1.5 total time but you have drying time so about 1-2 days with the dry times of clear coat before wet sanding.

Awsome thanks man. Sounds like it is a plan. Do you think masking tape would work, then just cut out all but a viper head. Also have you done backup lights. I have 5% tint on back window and 20% on side windows and already kind of difficlt to see at night. Looks good though

I taped off my back up sensor for the first two cotes the one more coat. looks great and can still see pretty good when in reverse!

I am acctually going out of town for work at 1:30A.M.. U proly dont want me to call. I am leaving the computer at hoem for the wife. If they have a comp at the hotel ill try to do a little more searching. How bout i give you a hollar this weekend, that cool?

I have mine blacked all the way out. i didnt leave my backup lights uncoated at all. I had 10000k HID head lights and they were blacked out as well and they were still brighter then regular headlights. But i like seeing everyone cover their eyes when i went by so I stripped it off. Backing up isnt that big of a pain some light still comes through. but if you want to be able to see the lights as you would normally just tape them off. The taillights still look really good with the back up light visible. all about prefference. And laying an emblem down then spraying them will work fine. make sure that if your doing that you def need to clear coat after.

A friend in Texas had his wife do a glass etching of the viper head in the sliding rear window...and to top it off a shift ball with the same image:

Sorry for the late reply, been outa town all week.

PROF, that is exacly what i was looking for, looks better than i imagined. did you just print out a stencil and tint over it then clear coat it? How many coats did it take to get that shade.

That is super-badass:rock::rock:

Carl did them for me...screen name: ccfeyh

I think he asked $100 and the old lenses...

I love them...I was worried that I would get stopped by the LEO's but never been pulled over!

So you took off you headlights, sent them, and he put on his worked lense and kept yours?

No Carl just sent the blacked out ones, and I sent him the ones I took off...pm him he probably has an extra set or two...

Three minutes to get both off...that includes the time of walking from the kitchen to the garage...

Hey Prof, where did you get the Fangs emblem for the tail gate? And what size, etc? Also, that glass etching is fabulous. Your truck really looks nice.

The only problem I see is that if you ever go NA, you will have to change the glass. Or, maybe just add to it:
