Well when I got my truck approx 2 weeks ago it did not come with the key to the locking lug. I went to the dealer a couple of days ago to get them taken off and replaced. After I dropped my truck off they called me and said we can't get them off and you need to sign a waiver in case we damage the wheel. I opted to pick it up and not sign the waiver hoping to find someone else. Today I washed the wheel and what was hiding under the lovely coat of brake dust? A bunch of little dings right around the locking lug that they attempted to take off the previous day. So back I go to the dealer and speak with the service manager who turned out to be very cool. Said he will take care of it. It turns out the guy who did this is their best mechanic and thier Viper guy also:eek: . I understand that people make mistakes but it you screw something up man up to it. Dont hide it and pretend nothing happened. Looks like I will be looking for another Viper tech since now I cannot trust this ones work.

damn dude that sux! at least they owned up to it and didn't tell you to kick rocks.

That suck man....

Where did you take your truck

LHM? :dontknow:

The dodge dealership on Auto Mall Drive.

there is a tool set available that ruins the lug nuts but not the wheel. it is a socket that has teeth inside of it that the more you tighten it, the harder it grabs the nut. go to a local auto parts store possibaly sears and they should have them. i have a set and have NEVER had a problem gettin a lock off of my cars.

Yea the service manager couldnt figure out why the viper guy didnt get them off. I later went to Big O and they said it would be a piece of cake and would charge me $20 for the whole deal.

good luck with it. i used to fight them in the junk yard all the time. the old fords were the worst and when you're charging $200+ for a wheel you need to be careful. glad you found someone with some brains to help get them off

Thats too bad...

He a really good guy and helped a friend of mine get his 04 RC back on the road after a motor explosion. I guess I better not loose my wheel lock

Great I know the service manager will speak with him as soon as he gets back from vacation. Not like he wont remember these vehicles. Looks like I will be making friends a little further away than planned.:dontknow:

Let me know what you find. It's always good to have a backup plan when plan "A" falls on its face

do you know if they are mopar locks? there is a master key set available for the mopar locks, key for all the wheel locks mopar has.

As far as I know they are the Mopar locks. Well see, they are going to have to get it off Monday to fix the damage. Once they figure it out maybe they will replace the other 3:D

My dealer the mast set and just sold me the key for it, (14$). I took the parts guy about 2 min in the service drive...

I'd like to clarify something, please......

Are you guys saying that we paid 50,000 bucks for a truck with locking wheels....But, they didn't provide us with a tool to unlock the wheels...?

Is this correct......?

Django

Yep its easy just hammer a smaller than normal 12 point socket on the lock and off they come + the wheel is untouched / perfect.

Nope. The wheels come with no wheel locks but some people bought there
trucks used so the person before them had wheel locks on them which you
can buy from the dealership or elsewhere. :D I personally have wheellocks
on mine as a theft deturent.. don't know if that's actually gonna stop someone
but it sure as hell can't hurt :D
