First time draggin the truck

I am very close to getting a note put in my door window that says:

"Street Racing is Illegal...

and Stupid."

It is meant for those that pull up next to me looking for a race...and as a reminder to someone who knows better but needs a constant reminder.

Sounds like a job for Steve Holden- Maybe white letters on a clear vinyl 4x7"...?

I think we could sell a bunch of these.....

D

How about it Steve?

Made in a way that you could roll the window up to expose the first line and then up a little more to reveal the "Stupid" line!

What are the design and set up costs...I might be willing to defray those if we could get lots of people to buy them!

thats a great idea prof, plus I think it would give some leverage upon getting pulled over for loud exhaust, slight speeding, etc

I believe you are right...not that a sticker will keep you from getting busted for being dumb...but lots of people believe that stickers that say you have contributed to the Fraternal Order of Police helps!

In the same line of thinking...it could help!

Steve, I'll buy a couple of hundred dollars worth to distribute if I get some input on design!

Not much design really.... just six words on 2 lines... clear vinyl that adheres to the inside window.

Should be a snap....

Street racing is illegal
......and Stupid.

I just got off the phone with Mrs Holden... a real nice lady.

Steve is MIA at the moment, but will respond to this when he returns.

D

I wasn't really MIA...I was 100 ft in the air working on a sign...I truly hate that shit...but I survived it and I'm back at the shop.

Roy asked me a month aor so ago to come out with this decal and I've been procrastinating it big time (sorry Roy) because I couldn't figure out something really cool. If all we want to do is some white vinyl letters, like D said, that's a cake walk. I can crank 'em out for say $6 a piece, and cover the postage at that price.

The way we'll do them is cut vinyl letters that will apply to the outside of the window so they'll be very visible.

If that's the concensus of the requirement, I'll print a bunch of them up.

Oh, and D, please careful about calling Spousal Unit nice, and especially not a "lady"...I don't want her head to get any bigger...LOL!

Isn't it possible to do it all on one clear sheet, Steve...?

She IS nice... What can I say....?:dontknow:

D

Can you pop a drawing up so we can look at type face, layout etc...

Sorry, too much time as Advertising VP!

Roy

Nope, unless you run certain speeds I guess.

Fellas, this is not ment to be an "anti-street racing" thread. I'm not saying I condone it but I have done it as I'm sure 99% of the people on this board have done it. I've been on my soap box about the motherhood attitude of folks on this board about street racing so I'm not going to waste my breath. There are just far too many things that happen that are far worse.

Mods, please close this thread as it's heading in a direction I do not care for it to go.

Thanks to those who have posted.

I can do it on a clear sheet, but individual letters will be the best way to go and will look the best when installed, trust me...;)

Seems like it'd be a bitch having to layout all the individual letters, Steve...

No..?

LOL!!! Yeah it would be at that...we provide them with tape on the front and back so you pull the back off, stick the decal, then pull that face off so the spacing etc is maintained...trust me grasshopper...;) :p

Hell yes Tim...where is your mind grasshopper???

Get with the program Tim...think....think!!!

I was going to ask too, but got busy, thank God!

Steve, you just confirm the concept of "let the experts do the work...just step aside and let them do their thing!"

It does. I didn't get it either till I watched it in action, now it makes perfect sense. Picture a flat, blank piece of 4" X 7" piece of vinyl. The product has two layers, a layer of vinyl, that has adhesive on the back and the second layer is a backing that you peel off to expose that adhesive. We do the artwork for a given project on a PC, then send it (like you would to a printer) to a machine that cuts through the vinyl layer, but not the backing layer (pretty exact tolerances, no?) and as it does it cuts out the letters, or picture or whatever you're doing. Once that step is done you pull all the vinyl that you don't want off and throw it away leaving (in this case) just a few letters still stuck to the backing. Then you place a specialized masking tape type product over the letters. When you are ready to apply you peel the original backing off, exposing the adhesive, place the decal in it's new home and rub the letters through the making tape to put them in place. Once that's done, you peel the making tape off the face and viola, all done! That's how we apply individual letters with out having to worry about spacing and such details like that becasue the letters are all held in their intended position by the masking tape on the face of them.

Screw it, you're right, it doesn't make any sense when explained...I'll send you one, it'll make more sense then...LOL!!!
