:)

I will be selling my 1960 Chevrolet Apache 10 1/2 ton pickup. I've had it for over 20 years. I'm the 3rd owner of the truck and it has never been wrecked or modded.

It has the original stock 283 in it (needs re-built).

This model was produced in 1960, 61 and 62. It has the forward sloped cab windshield post and a torsion bar front end. It has the "eyebrow" hood and double headlights. It is a three on the tree, no air, has a heater, drum brakes, small back window, all stock and original.

In 1963 they changed the hood, went to single headlights, a "rear slope" cab (windshield post) and switched to coil springs.

I have many, many oem parts that I have purchased over the years with the intention of fixing this truck up. I have spare body parts, too. This is a perfect restoration project and wouldn't take a whole lot to put it in shape for a daily driver. I used to drive daily until I parked it in 1999. Like I said, I intended to restore it someday, but just can't keep it any more.

The NADA used car guide calls out different values for it and I would base it on the lower of the three.

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.a...960&m=1035&d=7240&c=10&vi=89169&z=92392&da=-1

I will post some pictures. The previous owner painted it black but the underlying blue paint is showing through on most of the truck. It looks ugly, but the body is so super straight and it has very low mileage and a three owner vehicle.

Mine looks very similar to this black one except all the black paint is almost gone now ................

I might need a new daily driver...

What are you asking

I am working out a price, because it depends if someone wants the truck and all the spare stuff that goes with it or just the truck. It does run, but the engine needs overhauled. It has good oil pressure, but after it starts up, it smokes out the entire block  It is smog exempt here in cali though :D

Some history on the truck: A gentleman who was a good friend of one of our good friends bought this truck brand new in 1960 in the Rosemead/Temple City area. He was a gardener and only drove the truck approximately 1000 miles a year for 13 years almost entirely in 1st gear. When he died, his son got it (now you know why it's painted black) ;) He put some wheels and tires on it and drove it around. I believe he worked for the city of Temple City. The son sold the truck to our good friend who we've known for 25 years.During the time our friend had the truck he would bring it over for Jerry to do all the maintenance on it. Eventually, our friend got a 69 Chevy (which I also have now). At that time, we purchased the 1960 from him. That was 1988. Jerry went through the truck and got it completely road worthy so I could drive it every day. I drove it for many years to and from work. To the best of our knowledge the engine has never been out of the chasis and has never been re-bored.

I ended up parking in 1n 1999 and started driving the 69 Chevy, then I drove a 70 Buick and now I drive my VW. I hate to part with my old fiend "Blackie" but I have to. Something has to give if there is going to be a chance on keeping the house and the 10.

Most of what needs done is the engine overhaul. The rest is just how much one would want to tinker on it. It has lived most of it's life in a very dry desert area, leaving it pretty free of any rust.

Pics tomorrow or the next day
:)

I had a 64 has a kid. But I was hoping it was (engine wise) a little better off.

I will keep my options open

Thanks

VJ

I will get some pictures of it tomorrow. I'll also go through the receipts of all the stuff I bought for it so I can list the inventory. Someone would be pretty well on their way to making it nice with the parts we already have - so many I can't remember ...

If the truck goes without the parts, then I guess eBay will be seeing a lot of me :D

I tried to find a rebuilt 283 for it about 10 years ago, and all they had at Untied Engine were 350's. It seems the old 283's are getting hard to come by these days. I wanted to keep it true to it's original state while Jerry went through the original engine. i like the matching number thingy :)

Yep!

I had a 283 in my 64

Great motor

Pics of the 69?

Why, you wanna buy the 69? :dontknow: :D :dontknow: :D

I went through the receipts I have for the NOS and reproduction parts - they total around $2287.00

Some of those parts have been installed (mostly tranny stuff) and what hasn't been is still in the packages from purchase

Jerry had a shortbed 60 chevy for years before I met him so there is also TONS of misc. stuff that he has been collecting since around 1972

from transmissions, to dash clusters, to misc. knobs, doors, hoods, fenders, complete torsion bar front end clip and MUCH more - and the back half of a '60chevy pickup (COMPLETE that has made into a trailer).

To the untrained eye, it may not "look" like alot, but I dare you to go find all this stuff :D It really is an unbelievable collection of things that are hard if not near impossible to come up with these days.

Mind you, this is a plethora of STOCK/OEM goodies for those who like original stock vehicles. If you are into modding, you are on your own :p :p :p

I just sent my photographer out to do some pictures .............

Here are some of the parts. It is mostly the Chevy stuff, but there may be other parts intermingled.

We do have a 69 and 3 Ferds, too that we collect parts for ;).

If anyone is truly interested, we can sort and separate the parts and get more individualized pics.

Note: If anyone is looking for stock oem 83-84 Ford F-150/F250 parts, we got those too :D Hey, parts is parts :p :p :p

And Finally the truck pic's:rock:

I hosed it down so you can see how straight it is, the rust you see is surface rust and looks a lot worse when it is wet. The only damage to the truck is the drivers door where the original owner's kid rolled it down the driveway with the door open and caught it on something and bent it over the stops (doomkoff)

Notice the original license plate (black with yellow). I look for that when I check out old vehicles :D Anyway, I hate parting with Old Blackie, but looks like I'm gonna have to. :( It really is a beautiful old truck. Well, to me it is, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder
