every forum i go to the SRT10 is getting craped on by everything from a 5.3L Chevy to the Hemi's. What is the deal? I love this truck and i believe that it's 500 hp is more reliable and drivable than a 5.7 running 500hp. But what is the deal, are they turds. Is there something wrong with a viper engine in a truck that it doesn't run with the (11sec) 5.3's and the sort.

Just ranting bc i've been on the sport truck site lurking.

Make me believe in my truck again!

Absolutely!!! They are ragging cause they dont have one. Jealous turds!!!

Lots of cars are faster but rarely do they get the "wow" factor our trucks get!!

Head over to the Camry forums. You'll hear the same thing:
"...saw an SRT-10 on the highway today; pulled up next to it and finally got the owner to run; I pwned him 'till I guess his computer shut him down. I was well over 210mph when I finally let off..."
That crap happens on ALL the forums. Even if someone SEES one of our trucks, they'll put up a huge post about some faux encounter at excessive speeds on public roads.

I was awaiting my turn for the exit ramp today- left-arrow light- with a new 350Z in front of me (temp tags). There was a van and two other vehicles in front of us. As the light turned, the van had the reaction time of moss. The 350Z and I *barely* made the light...and there were still a dozen cars behind me that didn't (and probably pissed).

The 350Z sees that the ramp goes to 2 lanes before it gets on the 6-lane highway. He rips into the open right lane of the ramp and drops to 2nd, then quickly up to 3rd.
I do the same...but I used my turn signal. :)
I'm a safe distance from his bumper, but not losing any ground...and certainly not sweating. He continues into 4th and I do the same. I was watching for traffic/cops/animals/etc. so I didn't check the speedo, but I think I might have peeked over the posted 65 mph limit. :D
(Note: Save for the 5 vehicles listed above, the ramp was completely clear, sunny skies, dry roads, and about 3/4 of a mile in length)

The upcoming section of highway is usually PACKED with troopers, so I break off the run and let him find them for me (I'm a jerk like that. LOL). Plus, I had to get off at the next exit anyway.

I'm in a 5200 lb. full-size pickup....staying even with Nissan's top-of-the-line sports car.

I still believe.

Lol well said. There something to be said about seeing a Full Sized truck holding up to a car half the weight or less. I'd never give up my truck for a car.

Yo Ike,

I don't wish to shoot myself in the foot, but ............

When yer the big kid on the block, everyone wants a piece of ya'.....

They all say, "I pwned that guy in the Viper truck" when they actually drive a busted-ass fkn Yugo to their job scrubbing toilets at Weinerschnitzel.

Most forums consist chiefly of mindless posers who couldn't lie straight in their own beds.

After owning my truck since Jan '04, I've had my share of experiences...both good and bad... But, after all is said and done, I've had more guys with completely bitchen hot rods make very complimentary statements and gestures about my beast.

Who cares what claims might be made by some needledicked little bugfker on another forum.

There's no forum on the net that has more brainpower or performance expertise than the VTCOA..... and the overwhelming majority of us have kept our rides..... That should say something about the overall righteousness of the SRT-10 truck......

Who cares what these mouthy, moronic diletantes say?

If my ass was a football, would they kick it.....? Well, here's the valve.... tell 'em ta' blow it up.....

Yeah, but the NOS sticker on the fender....well...that says it all!

I've had more compliments in parking lots than I've had vehicles want to run me. Probably about 200:1. I'm still not used to complete strangers coming up to me out of the blue asking about the truck. I'm getting better, but...I don't think I'll ever get used to it. :)

A couple of weeks ago, I pull into the local convenience store to get a snack and a soda. Two guys in full painters gear see me walking back to the truck. They're giddy like little school girls being dared to talk to the cute boy in the grade above them. Okay, that's a bit off; they were extremely excited. These were obviously guys who 'worked' for a living, and could appreciate such a truck (don't get me wrong- I get a thrill from pulling it into a Mercedes or Jaguar dealership and watching the suits drool too).

The one guy asked, "Is that one of the Viper trucks?" I said that it was. He and his buddy freaked out with a ton of expletives and asked me about 5 min. worth of questions about the truck as they walked around it and eyed it up and down like the new dancer at the club.
The piece-de-resistance and everyone's favorite part: opening the hood. From the sounds they made, you'd think they both just went 8 seconds on Ol' Hellraiser. :)

Try that with something other than these trucks.

Gotta +1 on this.

Along with all the other good points made....

I was at a local car show on saturday

670 Entries.....

1..... SRT-10

There not a dime a dozen like a bunch of these other vehicles. A select few are the proud owners of a very cool "Production" truck. It's not always about 1/4 times or street stories.

But one thing is a cetainty

It's one hell of a "Kick Ass Ride"

Now that sounds like a good idea :D

I'll even trade him straight up for my V-6 beast :D

I think that would be a bad deal......

He should have to pony up at least 2k for the fuel consumption offset and the spiraling value of the truck :D

Park your truck next to a Ferd L in any parking lot and everyone will always ask questions about our trucks first, it's like riding a Harley as opposed to a Honda. Nobody will even stop to look at the Honda.

I would. Errrr, did.:D

After re-reading my original post this morning, I realized I wanted to clarify something. Since I'm unable to edit my post so I have to re-post with using the quotes.

This, however, is one of the true stories.

I really hate cars. They're getting smaller and smaller and cheaper and all full of plastic parts! I like big vehicles.Period.These trucks remind me of BIG OLD MUSCLE cars. The kind like our dad used to drive. Would I want to sit in a Toyota, Vette, Camaro , Mustang.. even a Viper! No! Do I fit ? No. Are these truck the fastest things on the planet? Absolutely not! But they certainly can hang with the best of em! Are they they the prettiest? Probably. Are they the most fun to drive? I think so. Theres a list of pros and cons that are ad infinitum. My point is its a whole package deal. And BTW.. the VTCOA is probably the best forum around.

Chevys and Ls are very common vehicles, thus the "go fast" industry caters to them and makes parts that an average teen can afford. My truck may not be the fastest at the dragstrip but it gets more compliments than any other truck out there.

Thats very true. These trucks have the ability to attain American icon status
like Harley Davidson ( already have IMO). I dont think you will ever see A datsun or a Toyota reach that level.
