Limited time in my GTS. My GTS is currently my daily and well, Im glad I don’t have far to go. It’s really a workout to drive the car, I love every minute of it so no bitching from me. Please don’t take this as a negative, just constructive. Road noise, wind noise, cabin always hot, hatch rattle no cup holders, no cruise. I can live with all these thing and will its worth every minute of it when you pull up to a light and people are taking pictures with cell phones. One this to consider is that you can get a nice genIII vert in the mid to high 40s and then go this route.

You would still be ahead on the price vs. a genIII coupe and have a vert and hard top. I will stay say that it’s hard to beat the lines of the genII GTS and when its Blue and white, well Im biased there.

Excellent perspective. I think the Gen I and II are weekend profiling vehicles...the '08 is the way to go for a daily driver...

Jake,

There is a Gen II '06 with 4K miles on it in Orlando!

It's a black coupe with the silver stripes. Warranty is good 'til 10/04/09 or 36K miles.
According to the online ad it's $64,995. The car is beautiful!

FYI,
06's are Gen IIIs. ;)

GEN II looks better, but that is opinion. The GEN III will be a better ride in terms of comfort.

I personally would never buy a GEN III, I am thinking of a 99 ACR though :)

You need to start doing some squats brother, the clutch pedal is not bad at all. unless of course you just hopped out of a civic:D . GenII can easily be daily driven AS LONG AS YOU DON'T MIND ALL THE ATTENTION THE CAR ATTRACTS.
The other grabbing some coffee I was parked accross the lot and 4 teenagers walked atleast 50 yards to go check it our, 3 other cars pull up next to it and took pictures. Makes me nervous because the paint is good on it and I want to keep the scratches off! But yes the car can be daily driven...no cup holder(which there is a mod for) so you balls are going to bet burnt or cold:p

The SRT Ram is great (especially modded) because nobody knows anything about it so you have some stealthiness to it and will suprise a few at the strip. Nobody believed that I road raced my truck, they've heard about an SRT Ram on a road course but didnt believe it til they saw me last year at Pueblo. Not only did I show up in the truck, I was passing BMW Z4's in the twisties, straightaway speeds of 130-135 mph proved very little could keep up there either.

The power to weight ratio of my supercharged SRT Ram was very similar to my Viper GTS with a few bolt ons.

The Viper on the other hand is unmistakeable. Everyone knows what its capable of.

I would love to get my GTS back, but it would still see limited driving because of its rarity and little mileage. When I bought it I never thought about rarity, mileage, Barrett-Jackson, etc. I was wary in driving it only because being 1 of 86 (minus a few that are likely destroyed) and low mileage I knew it would be worth a nice penny in the future. That prompted the question "Why am I paying $850 a month on a car that I never drive?" I could be putting the money toward my house payment, other bills, etc.

I know of a GTS ACR (sapphire/silver stripes) bone stock with 2400 miles on it for $69,900. I want this car BADLY. However, will I drive it everyday...NO, will I take it to car shows...YES, will it be worth a VERY pretty penny in several years...YES.

Basically, you gotta ask yourself will you be driving it, modding it, racing it, keep it stock, getting it as a collector car? These are all things I didnt think of when I got mine. The GenII GTS will be THE collector Viper in the future if not now. There are rumors that 2009 will be the last year.

The GenIII Vipers have brakes that are beyond belief in their ability. You can however upgrade the GenII brakes to match the GenIII I think, thats the advantage of the GenIII and the only one in my opionion.

Buying a Viper and not driving it, is the same as marrying a pornstar to clean your house!:dontknow:

Dave, buy the Viper and drive it. Are you really looking to buy a $60K car to not drive it and hope its worth...what $250K in 20 years. :dontknow:
Pam Anderson wanted to date me but she wasn't a good cook, just didn't work out for me:D

Moral of the story...ride em both...HARD!!!!!!:D

Great analogy:rock:

Just buy one modded like I did. I have way more power than a stock Gen III, great handling with the car lowered, Gen III brakes with drilled/slotted rotors, and custom interior. And mine's for driving, not just for showing. :burnout:

Again, I wouldnt trade it for another vehicle at this point. Im giving honest feedback on the differences between the two from what I have seen. We have a local club member with an 06, paxton kit, motons, quaiffe rear end complete brake kit are only a few of the mods. That car rides like a dream to say the least. It is his daily driver and I dont blame him for driving the car. The only reason I would consider it is that the car is 1 of 8 in that year and color.

On a side note I stopped to get a drink last night on my way home. I noticed a truck load of teenagers in the vehicle behind me. I was going to starbucks so not out of the norm. When I got out they began asking me about the car, normal stuff. I was polite and chatted with them while walking in. The milled around the car for a couple of minutes, It was dark but I could see them through the glass. They left and I continued with my business. When I walked out I noticed that one of them had spit on the hood of my car. Thankfully it was only that and not a key, I could see if I had been rude to them but I wasnt.

thats my worry, thats why I won't let it out of my sight! I take care of the car and take pride in it!
