Gen IV X-METAL SHIFTER Test

Thanks D, good advice and input. Of course, I'm not one to believe until I try so I was always going to drive the truck before I even considering opening my wallet for a new clutch, I will see, but, your post & comments give me good confidence that I can leave the clutch as a stock set up. Also, I will be leaving my truck it's stock 500hp @ the fly, may get an exhaust and little things but that's it. What mods have you got to get 600rwhp?

About the hydraulics. Is there just the 1 kit for the upgrade? Or are their several, what does everyone use and do you have a part number for the kit? I will get them to do it when they do a RHD conversion (mandatory in NZ).

Cheers,
Carl

Carl,

Centerforce has been tried and proven in these trucks, I have over 30,000 miles on mine with the last 5000 miles with the SC and have had no problems. I also have the Viper Hydraulics upgrade which is a must.

There are other clutches out there but most of them have grenaded or burnt up! I believe the ACT clutch is showing positive results. The Cenerforce has been out since 2004 and has been installed and tested more than any of the others.

Break in will be another key issue! I drove mine for 750 miles in breakin mode before hammering it!

Good luck, and hope you get your truck soon!!

Carl... I don't let off the gas at all, those are full power shifts. I use a Fidanza flywheel, Centerforce clutch and Viper master and slave cylinder kit from Boomer at X-Metal Engineering.

Oh OK, just looked like the gate shifts you raised you gas foot slightly, must be my eyes. Good on you for power shifting, not many people do it, myself only if needed, not sure what the T56 is like but if I did I'd only do the direct shifts as I've heard and been told to avoid power shifting gate shifts as it puts extremely excessive wear on the syncs. Mind you, my cars are all daily driven so I don't want to be thrashing the tits out of them too much. Drag racing, fine. Anyhow, nice vid mate, two thumbs up. :)

Thanks mate, appreciate the input. :)

I've just heard through the Mopar muscle forums (cuda-challenger.com) that the centreforce products are rubbish, most of the money being spent on fancy (suck you in) advertising. But, being as though these are different vehicles, who knows, they maybe as good as you say.

LOL! Just to make sure in no way am I "dissing" him, great shifting, just from the 2nd to 3rd shift in the 1st run you see his sneaker come towards him (what I thought was a slight throttle lift through the gate). Compared to 1st-2nd where his foot doesn't move an inch. Couldn't see it again though as he didn't get to 4th>5th. :)
