current D/A is 2700'......don't know what it was when you ran a 13.xx.....

I am embarrased to say I was embarrased.:(

I could NOT hit third gear. I am so fu%^in tired of this.

I raced a heavily modded L with slicks. Very nice guy to talk too. He out 60' me, as expected with slicks. I began to run him down then went into some sort of FALSE third gear. The shifter moved all the way up, but when I let out the clutch, no gear. I WAS TOLD MY REVERSE LIGHTS WENT ON!!!!

4 attemps and only made it down the track once. Im so damn mad I left my time slips in my truck. The only pass I actually made it down was 13.275 @ 105.

I short shifted 2nd to 3rd to make sure it went in gear. Guys, I am so tired of this shit. It shifts so smooth around town and doing some average hot rodding. But when I go WOT and try to shift at 5700, forget it. It tried another 2nd to 3rd WOT shift when I left the track. Did the same fu%^in thing.

What is this false neutral Im hitting? Its a new tranny.

Can someone please tell me what the fu^& Im doing wrong? :dontknow:

slow is smooth and smooth is fast.....

I've got the same problem. I can powershift 1st to 2nd, and 3rd to 4th with no real problems.

2nd to 3rd powershift - forget it! I've learned to just lift on the gas pedal and shift as fast as possible.

Talked to quite a few others about it and it seems as if the way to cure the problem is to upgrade to the Viper slave/master cylinder, along with a new clutch. For now, I have the stock clutch with no real problems otherwise, so it's somewhat difficult for me to justify replacing it.:dontknow:

I just came from the dealer. I ran into a guy that owns a Viper and runs a parts shop strictly for Vipers. He told me that its the tranny. Apparently, the Viper community has the same problem. They are using the same clutch with there Viper Master/Slave. They have the same issue.

While working with Hurst, they also told me that the T56 has weak forks and an upgrade is needed to the gears(undercut) to stop this problem.

I have spoken to both a friend with a 02 Z06 and a guy at the track with a Gen IV F-body GM. ALL complain of the same damn thing. Lets stop blaming the shifter. Im convinced of it now.

I have contacted a local Viper shop and asked him to race prep my tranny.

No more fu%^in around. Clutch is ordered.

Are you using the stock shifter, if so have you removed the isolater? For racing I feel the Boomer Gen IV shifter is the way to go. I have the Boomer Ripper shifter which is way better than stock, but I want more so I ordered the Gen IV.

Bill.

What did you run in that pass?

I had a 2.04 60', short shifted 2nd to 3th, and it was pretty hot and humid and still ran 13.275 @ 105.98. I grabbed the slip out of my truck.

If you read my thread above, I dont think the Viper Master/Slave makes a difference with this issue. I have talked to a Gen III Viper owner with the same damn issue.

You guys with the Viper stuff, PLEASE chime in. Did it help at the track UNDER WOT CONDITIONS? I dont care what it does on the street. My setup is perfect on the street. At the track, all bets are off.

I cant say about how mine runs at the track with the new setup. I havent really run again. As you have heard before, the clutch fluid gets way too hot in the stock setup, especially if the lines are not tied up properly. The stock slave is plastic. Mine literally melted. The viper one is metal. Guys like VPRPWR did the entire clutch switch and ran tons and had no problems.

What I do know is that when stock I could not downshift at WOT for shit!! From day one my truck was like that. After installing Boomers gen 1 shifter, that problem was gone. Of course I had the clutch etc... changed right about the same time. So the new setup could have helped the shifting problem as well.

My sixty was a 2.19!! Real shitty! I think at the track everything changes in our minds. We know we are being timed and want to be fast so we shift differently than on the street. At least thats what I think happens to me. Most of my miss shifts were when I was the faster car and the other dude got the lead start and I was playing catchup. Trying to catch em I tried to shift faster and blew it most times!

there have been 2 cases I know of that the problems continue to occur after the master/slave have been upgraded....

Before you spend all kind of cash...make sure to turn my wrist in...giving the stick the proper angle for the 2-3...maybe you already are....just a thought...

I still think it's all in the technique (which I have down pretty good, hehe).

Watch my shifts in this video. Stock tranny, stock clutch, stock shifter.

Dude, I just watched your vid about 5 times in a row with the volume up. You are shifting quick, but to me, it sounds as if you are lifting off the gas pedal when you shift. I can do this with no problems as well.

When I race, I like to powershift - Once the pedal goes to the floor at launch, it doesn't come back off the floor until I'm through the traps. This is where I experience problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

(If I'm wrong about the way you were shifting - I apologize.:D Just going by what I *think* I hear in your vid)

I think that pass was a 13.2@106mph and a 2.0 something 60. Very hot that day and bad DA.:(

You are correct. I let off about a 1/4 of pedal, so it's kind of a semi-power shift, LOL. :)

I think I've found the majority of the problem. Im going back to the track on Friday. I'm meeting a friend up there with his '02 Lightning.

I ordered the BM shifter directly from BM. I couldnt pass up that offer.

Ill try the BM at the track as soon as it comes in. Expected shipping is the 10th.:)

Tried again last night. Made only 3 passes. Shifter issue has been patched.

First pass was the best, second I bogged, and third I smoked and smoked.

60' ... 1.989
330' ... 5.524
1/8 ... 8.406
MPH ... 85.73
1000' ... 10.884
1/4 ... 12.972
MPH ... 108.03

I did it. I Ran a 12. :D Temps dropped 6 degrees on the last pass. Air was pretty good. Probably explains why I fried them at the same launch RPM.

Excellent run Bro. So was that with the B&M shifter or are you still running the stocker?

Sounds like it was the stock shifter too!!!

Excellent run dude. Thats a great mph too.....holy shiot 108!! Wow!

Since you sig is empty and I forgot, are you on stock tires? Thats a geat sixty time too.

patrick

Still a stock shifter. Truck is near stock. Stock tires.

Mods - Bassani headers and the BG SII Flash. Thats about it.

I am getting some custom high flow mids in a week or so. As soon as I get them installed and verified, I will certainly tell eveyone how great they are. Cause, I expect nothing less from this Vendor. I wish I had his job, connections...and his freakin wicked truck.....:)
