Last races of the season today, so I'll be heading to the strip and hopefully the weather holds out. Gonna try and break into the 13's, so hopefully everything goes well.

Last time I only got 2 runs in all day long, second run it was raining by the time we got to the end of the track. First run just did a shake down pass since it was my first pass ever at the strip with my truck. Launched at around 800rpm's, babied it outa the hole, 2.2x 60ft., 14.54@96mph. Second run I launched at around 1800rpm's, rolled onto the throttle (too slowly), 2.16 60ft., [email protected] mph. Truck was in full street trim, spare and tailgate still on, 3/4 tank gas, etc. Rear tires were at 24psi, fronts around 45. Track temps that day were crappy, 86-89deg., 76-78% humidity, bar. pressure was 30.01. So no clue what the actuall DA was, but hoping for some better weather today.

Truck is still stock aside from the caltracs, got them set to 1 and 3/4 turns PT. Last time they were 2 and 1/2 TPT, but were making some annoying creeking sounds from the leaf springs. Gonna try and launch more aggressive this time.

With the cooler weather you should be able to break into the 13.xx's

Guess I'll have to wait a bit more for 13's. Today's weather was even worst than the last time in Hilo. Temps in the mid 80's, humidity was between 79%-84% when I was doing my runs, sea level pressure was 29.94, wonder what the DA would be for that. I desperatly need some more practice with my launches, best 60ft. I could muster today was a 2.185. Didn't help I had to hot lap them all, and couldn't cool down the truck.

First run:
reaction: .266
60ft: 2.187
1/8mile: 9.316
MPH: 76.789
1/4mileET:14.433
MPH: 96.753

Second run:
reaction: .119
60ft: 2.201
1/8mile: 9.484
MPH: 76.125
1/4mileET: 14.663
MPH: 95.525

Third run:
reaction: .324
60ft: 2.185
1/8mile: 9.449
MPH: 75.616
1/4mileET: 14.642
MPH: 95.513

My last trip out my 2 runs were

First run:
reaction: .457
60ft: 2.266
1/8mile: 9.424
MPH: 76.638
1/4mileET: 14.548
MPH: 96.762

Second run: Got to cool down the truck, best time so far.
reaction: .245
60ft: 2.094
1/8mile: 9.006
MPH: 78.337
1/4mileET: 14.008
MPH: 99.115

I was kinda frustrated cause I know the truck has 13's in her, I just really need to get better launches. First 2 runs I was launching around 1800rpm's, let go the brake and roll onto the throttle. Front tires were at 45psi, rear at 26psi. Last run backed it down to 1500rpm's, let go the brake, rolled onto the gas a little quicker and cut my best 60ft. of the day (which still sucked ass). Had the rear tires at 24psi. Every launch it seemed like the truck was bogging, it didn't have the strong kickdown launch like my 14.00 pass. So maybe I'm just not getting on the gas quick enough, and need to launch more aggressive. Some better weather wouldn't hurt either. All runs were in full street trim, 3/4 tank gas, spare, tailgate, bed cover all still on.

What you guys think? My goal is to hit a 13.5-13.7 stock, then I'll start modding. What 60ft should I be cutting with a stock truck and caltracs?

I'll have to check tomorrow, but it does sit noticably lower when I set the caltracs to 1 and 3/4 turns than it did at 2 and 1/2 turns past touching.

you've got caltracs, i'm curious -- what does your truck measure on the bed (both sides) ?

It is 3', 2 & 1/4'' on the drivers side and 3', 1 & 3/4'' on the passengers side. That's measuring to the inside lip of the fender, measuring to the outside is hard to get a good read on, but the inside lip has a distinct line to eyeball. So about a half an inch higher on the drivers side, the driveway has a bit of a slope thats higher on the drivers side so water can runoff, dunno if that has an effect on the reading. It probably levels out when I'm in the truck.

Thanks man, I just want to do it stock. I went off a little too much on the burnout's, and told myself I'm gonna pound it outa the hole and ended up rolling onto the throttle again. Truck didn't have that strong kickdown, and just accelerated slowly. Camera guy got some pics of my burnouts on the top link, page 8 and 9.

The pics look awesome. Come out to a West Coast GTG and the pics and vids are free.

Thanks man, they look good for the camera, but the big burnout's killed my stock tires 60ft times. The 3rd link from the top has pics of some very sick cars. One day I gotta make one of those GTG's, you guys got all the performance shops, tracks with awsome temps, and concrete launching pads! lol

Going to the Outlaws Saturday night, races start at around 5 and go till midnight so hopefully I can get some good runs in and get to cooldown the truck between runs. Weather should be allot better than the daytime races, hopefully it doesn't rain. Hoping to finally break into the 13's, maybe even mid 13's. No more rolling onto the throttle B.S., and huge pointless burnouts. Just enough to clean off the tires, and mash the gas as soon as I take my foot of the brake? How quickly do all you QC guys get onto the gas after letting go the brake? I need to get my 60ft. times down bad. Thanks guys.

On the street when I take off hard from a light I give it about 1/4 gas untill I get that first initial forward movement, then floor it. I get a little squeal, then hook and book:burnout:

At the track I just romp on it. But you are getting more power to the wheels than I am:(

Hope that confuses ya a little more:D
