GOOD NEWS! and bad news!!!!

My truck was running lean on all the cards but the 6deg card W/O water/meth;) This was the card I have had in it the past two months and I've put about 800 miles on it no problems at all. I just thought it felt weak! Which it was on that card 500rwhp.
Josh made at least 15 pulls on the dyno yesterday and they all went well so why on my way home the first time I wanted to get in it a little it went BOOM:dontknow: He had told me to not beat it up unless the engine temp was below 200;) It was at 170-180 WTF? It wasn't wound tight or even near peak boost yet:dontknow: Thats why it bothers me:(

I'll give you a call later Roy;)

Its called fatigue failure. All the parts in your engine are streeeeeeetching and contracting with every cycle in very small amounts. After they reach their limit lets say 5 million cycles they fail. Just like bending a paper clip.

I am going to start disassembly this weekend so I can see the damage:( I have found a block at a good price:rock: I just hope I can salvage the crank and cam:dontknow:

just saw this thread...sorry man :-(

Shit happens:( Just wish it wasn't me:D At least when I can afford to put it back together it will be bulletproof and better than ever:rock:

Dang Kyle..I just noticed this thread too...sorry to read this....your cam was probably understating your boost readings but you were still making equal to 10lbs on a stock motor...George has been lucky he hasnt joined the blown engine club.....I forged my bottom end before installing the pulley....and my best friend in the truck is the wide band A/F guage..

that sucks dude! i'm hating it for you. i know it isn't much consolation, but at least you'll be building it bigger and better than ever now.

Ok so along with a few other members I am in the process of trying to figure out what to do about my motor:dontknow: I haven't got it apart yet but I believe the block is no good:( Once I'm ready I really want to stay at 10k or under:dontknow:

I can get a complete motor out of a wreck and do pistons and rods for a little under 10k.. Then I guess I could sell off what's good out of my motor which may not be much:dontknow:

I would like some input from people on other ideas or if this is the best route:dontknow: ;)

Your block may very well be salvagable. As long as the boom didn't take out the oil galley that goes from front to back just under the cam you "should" be able to save it.......

Sorry to hear about the motor Kyle, that really sucks. Good luck on the rebuild.

Dang Ken!! Where u been it happened 6 weeks ago:D :D :p

I have a complete factory motor found for 4k:rock: I may go this route and do pistons and rods. If I am lucky alot of my existing motor will be good for parts:dontknow:

Keep us posted Kyle...want you back on the road as soon as possible.

Got started on the disassembly today:( there was alot of trash below the blower on the lower intake including a piece of a piston ring:( I will try to get some pics up tomorrow when we pull the motor out:D

Working my ass of bro... Logged off 168 hours in the past 10 days at the Firehouse, and were getting killed. Yesterday, Rescue #3 had 19 calls from 08:00 roll call to just before 16:00, with 14 more hours to go.:goodnight: I believe they ended up with about 28 calls for the shift.... tough to bounce back from. I am on Rescue 4, so were a bit slower...oddly #4 is/was
4th busiest rescue in the county. (stat's change, every station is busy now)
I think we only ended up with 12) which is our average.
Today is my first day off, and I get another tomorrow:rock: Time to catch up with the house/ honey do, grass, detail the vehicles, bills, Dawns "BS"...ya know.
Good luck on the re-build bro, I loved the fact my 10 was not a daily...do what ya want, (not this way of course) and not have to need it.;)
I really wanted a forged motor with the SC on top when I had mine... that's about the only thing I would have done differently. If I ever do it again...motor first then the SC.

Ok so do I need to pull the tranny with the engine? I really don't want to do that:(

I'll keep this thread going till I'm up and running again!
