Tonight I took the truck to fill'er up with some gas. While waiting at a traffic light to make a U-turn to go back to the gas station, a young kid in an older Ford Ranger extended cab pulls up next to me and says that truck is so awesome. He knew what it was and asked if it was the SRT-10. Told em yep. He says thats the one with 500 hp stock right? I replied, yep.

He asks which way are you going? I said left, he says me too. He asks, could you just show me a little of what the truck can do? I don't want you to get a ticket or anything but I have never seen one run before. Those things beat lightnings right? I say, yes these can beat lightings and of course I will show you what this thing can do (no brainier there). We make the left and have to sit at another light. He pulls up next to me and I tell him when the light turns I'm going to nail it. So I built on the brake to about 1800 (for display purposes) and let her rip when the light turned green. Smoked em for a bit, backed off and then took off down the road to the gas station.

He follows me in and immediately comes over and says Holy Shit that thing is fast. I don't mean to bother you again but I saw these on commercials two years ago and I never saw one in person. Can I see the engine. Again this is a no brainier. Pop the hood and he looks underneath and he cant believe how clean the motor is and that he is looking at a big ass Viper engine. He had some more small talk with me and just waited until I left. When I started up the truck to leave the gas station he said to the attendant, damn man, you hear that, now thats badass. The attendant could have cared less.

My point to this post is two fold. Number one the kid really made me proud to be an owner of an SRT-10. Two, no one is probably ever going to come up to somebody with a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, etc. and have a conversation like that. He may not ever get close to an SRT-10 again to actually look at it like he did tonight. To me, I think that is pretty damn cool...

Happens all the time..I had one guy...about 20 I guess...come up to me while I was pumping gas...same thing...he knew what I had but had never seen one in person...can I see the engine?....can I look inside?....can I take a ride in it?...me..well, I am in kind of a hurry...please..just a short trip down the road and back...............that was one happy and shaken kid when I dropped him off..:D

It's amazing the impact these things have on people. It is a privilege to own such a beast.

It is a great feeling when that happens!!

I had a guy at the Lombardi Service Station get out of his car, make his wife drive, so he could come look at my truck while we crept along in line for gas! It was pretty cool!!

never been one like it nor will there ever be another
in a way glad they are out of production. never will be like the Lighting, Vette, etc., see one every day thingie.
no matter if you have the hood open, they still ask "is that a Hemi"??
kids smile from ear to ear when they see one.
even had a guy take photos of it out his sun roof as i came up on him, one of them phone cameras.

Maybe we need to start charging admission. :D
I have said this a few times, jokingly mostly as it's been to people I know, but it may soon be a neccessity to do so, especially for someone you don't know.

A guy carrying his infant comes out of his SUV loaded with the rest of his brood at the drive in movies. Comes over and starts asking about the truck before the movie starts. I think he wanted to trade places just for a brief moment to take one run down the highway.

Picked up my grandaughter at school 11 yrs old ..... The teachers and the kids came over to ask me about the truck .... Then she gets in the truck with me and a sweet smile as we drive away ... She looks at me and says I Love you Gramps (she calls me TeTe)

Luv this Truck ........ JimTeTe

Hey you guys are so right about are trucks.I won 1st place at a car show in N.J.The judges had never seen a viper truck before. It was so cool to tell them about trucks.

As I was leaving the hotel in Nashville this past weekend, the valet came over to me and said, "I had a wet dream about your truck last night".
:D

(I did not let the valet guys behind the wheel; they were kind enough to let me park it.)

getting compliments in USA means this truck is really something unique. I got a "nice truck!" at a gas station last year while driving it to Georgia, I was impressed and proud. And it still had the ugly black tonneau cover!

Of course we get some compliments here in Italy, but most people just look like they saw an UFO.

I'm really a really proud owner, and having driven my truck 1200 miles in USA really makes all the story more unique.
