That really sucks Brad...I am so sorry to hear of the loss... Like you said..at least the family was not home...people are getting bold out there now. Being out/away from harms way is invaluable. Hang in there... and I hope that the PD finds the POS...and you have the chance to recover some of your electronics/ equipment...ect.

Man this sucks... First off, go check the local pawn shops, most stuff like you had taken ends up there w/in hours of the theft for some quick cash. Second, you are right, be thankful nobody was home when he entered, most of these scumbags are armed with some type of weapon, at least here in NJ.
