High powered QCs need apply

OH my gawd 10k for a tranny, that thing better be 24karat gold. And able to withstand 3,000hp I have never seen a tranny cost that much, most ever maybe , maybe 5 grand. Personaly i would never spend more then 3500 for a tranny. If it was more yeah i be looking at a 400 myself lol.

glad i dont have a quad :)

Yeah when I ge tto the numbers I want , I am looking at $3500-$4000 for the stick build, the sticks wont hold up to much either!:D

i wish i had $30,000.. underground.. will u be open in around of 3 o 4 years:D

I know it can be done , but the adapter is real expensive, I dont know tho about the electrical side of this, I would imagine with the new SCT on the market it should make it much easier tho.

Speaking of adapters...... Do you have an adapter plate for the 05 QC tranny to hook uo to an 06 RC engine? If so how much. If you don't have it who does?

hmmmm.........let me try and find you some info Brad, honestly I have no freakin Idea:D but will check for ya

T400 is the right answer, the twin turbo I have here has the Suncoast Auto, and we'll see. I Bought a $4500 48re for a big 4x4 blown 850hp stroker Ram, and it is doing fine a year later.

I don't doubt it....we started melting them with 500rwhp...I'm just not sure you can even call mine a 48RE anymore.....

I am in this boat. I don't know if you can call my 48re. Did this thread start because of my current problem?????

I brought this thread back from the dead as Carlos outs it because I'm still researching all options in my turbo build plan. 1 of my issues was the auto transmission.

With Nowwhats tranny giving up after only a year, I thought transmission research was in order. The TH400 sounds like a logical and proven workhorse that has been proven to be good and reliable for 1500 hp engines. The idea was brought up by Stinker but there was no conclusion to the idea.

With the cost to rebuild our transmissions to handle 1500 HP and Torque and only last a year or so plus cost us around 10K to build is absolutely ridiculous. There has to be another way to achieve this goal of 1500 - 2000 HP transmission that will last.

We'll see how long my full billet bla bla bla Suncoast lasts when I get the truck back (quiet stinker). Of course this is the second Suncoast, the first one burnt up pretty quickly and they replaced it for free.

TH400 is the way to go. Easiest thing to do is buy a computer from a RC so that it's not looking for the tranny. You can add a stand alone controller for the tranny to make it shift at a certain RPM for each gear, throw a gear vendors on and you've got a much stronger more reliable setup than the 48re. Of course you can go crazier and run a manual vavle body and a transbrake. This is the way I'm going to build a new tranny if I fry this last Suncoast.

What about using the 727 torqueflight adapted to the engine ---would it be strong enough to hold up to stock or more HP and Torque better than the 48RE's

Honestly to go through the expense and effort I'd go with the more proven platforn for high hp. Also there are more options for setting up the 400 for strip duty. For a street truck with less than 700rwhp I don't see why a 727 wouldn't work just fine.

We have put the TH400 behind the Viper Motor, but the cost is high. Tons of little things that need to be done to make it all work just like the factory. Unless you are drag racing, it's not worth the expense.
