27 years here -- I still remember taking my driver's test with the PA State Trooper riding shot gun. Pretty intimidating back then -- today if they rode shotgun the kid behind the wheel probably wouldn't give a 2 $hits about the cop.
I do remember after I got my license (no restrictions), 3 months later I got nabbed doing 70 in a 35 zone driving my first ride, a 1974 Plymouth Duster with a 360, 4bbl, 727 auto and an open diff. (8-3/4 I think). After that incident, it was back to taking the school bus for several months. I'll never forget that one, especially telling my dad what happened.
