new this site and been looking through the threads to check out what you guys are all about. since i had the pleasure of driving a qc srt10, i'm looking to get a reg cab for the manual. are they good daily drivers and any common problems with them?

i currently drive a 97 toyota tacoma that i got from my uncle 4 years ago free and in the process of rebuilding a 1971 plymouth duster. so a srt10 would be perfect for my collection.

Welcome to the club.....RC is fine for a daily.....not only gets you where you are going you have fun getting there........but these trucks are a little high maint....(8-10 QTs oil)............

im not affraid of the oil as i used to own a 7.3l desiel. just wondering every day basis if i'm going to get sick of the truck (which will probably never happen) or if it'll be a pain in the ass to take out all the time.

drive mine every day...RC...only complaint is sometimes after a hard day, i don't feel like shifting gears...i own a construction company, and she's actually the primary hauler!...no pun intended...and i pull a trailer on a regular basis, as well...almost 65k on her now...(see the truck abuse thread;))

I drive my '06 QC daily. I have around 32K miles on it now. The only thing I get tired of is filling up the tank, but since it's an '06, it holds 34 gallons, so I can get at least a week and a half out of it.

Mine was my daily driver before I got rid of it. They work fine as a daily driver as long as you don't mind the gas mileage.

My RC is a daily driver, but since it takes all of 10 munites to get to work, not much of a daily drive. But it's always fun.

These trucks are so awesome that even if if it isn't your DD , you will find some reason to stoke up the v10 and take her for a drive to get coffee in the morning, to wake up the right way:rock:

Good topic, I had planned to use my daily but it's more like monthly lol. Between toys, time and business it's just not used enough. I like to drive mine, not to get bread and milk, if I drive it, it's an hour at the minimum. Once it's an auto it'll make it more of a daily driver in the city and just easier to manhandle around towns, better overall not only for me but my family to drive as well, plus FI will top it off. That's the plan anyhow. Not quite the right size to take shopping or park in parking buildings down here lol. I'll take the Jeep for "daily driving trips".

Just to balance the comments...

Many do not use it as a daily driver. Lots of reasons:

Many are highly modified and performance modification is a very expensive process for an SRT 10.

These trucks are not the most stable things in the world in wet conditions.

They are expensive to drive daily even if not modified.

Some take a lot of visual maintenance, mine has seen rain three times in four years, all three times on long trips to special gatherings.

In northern climates many of us put the truck away for the winter...there is just too much torque for the truck to be fun to drive in snow and ice.

Since you are scanning the site, note the numerous instances of accidents due to wet conditions...and if you decide to get one for a daily driver, be careful when conditions are not ideal.

My old truck daily driver when I was in town 30,000 miles in a year and a half. With a TON of out of state out of country work, and having a company truck that I never drove while home. Even though I got free gas in that rig............. LOVE is a word I discribe when I harkin back to better days.

New truck............. 3500 miles in 6 months, 3-4 months of being broken........... and you all know what I think about when I think about this thing. But I've got everything but the red paint that I wanted to do to the BELOVED, black wheels, cal vue's, Roe, pretty engine.

Wish I could find my truck and buy the transmission from them....................

IS THERE A WAY TO FIND A VEHICLE ONCE THE INSURANCE COMPANY TAKES HER???????????????????? O my if I could get my old tranny I could quit bitching about this waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Jay you have become a one issue cry baby. I get sick of hearing your transmission blues. And I am not the only one.

LOL

Yeah, well I reckon bitching about it doesn't fix it...........

So you want to help or condemn me for being upset about a certain issue? How do I find a truck that the insurance company took? Call the insurance company is too easy an answer. Can I put the vin anywhere that would show it's current location.

You might be able to go to a friendly dealer who could run the VIN and come up with a name and location. They would be breaking the law, but they have been known to do it. But you have no idea what your old trans has been through since it has been in someone else's hands. It might be worse than what you have.

Just buy a new trans send it to the best transmission person you can find and get a 1000 hp and go from there. Build it right starting with a good piece of equipment...you will spend less in time and money in the long run.

Its just money.

All this being said, mine is/will be a daily driver until I give it to Hayleigh.......... She called dibs on it last time I was home :)

Gas prices be damned!
