POSSIBLE YOUR SOCKET ISNT DEEP ENOUGH

:dontknow: I have a long stick for stock so I use it and it still won't fit. I even vaccum the dirt and rocks out and it still won't fit or anything at all

You might have to bend the heat shield a little. We had too to remove mine.

thanks for some of the pics, I'm thinking to remove the heat sheild in order to be able to change the spark plugs, but how do u remove the heat shield, educate me

Go buy a thin-er walled socket and try it as it might not be going on the plug because of plug being partialy recessed into head

1. "..the pics. I'm thinking..."
2. SHIELD
3. YOU
4. "...the heat shield. Educate me."
5. There are (3) 1/2" nuts that hold the upper heat shield onto each exhaust manifold. The nuts are highlighted inside the green squares in the attached pic.
When re-installing, torque the upper heat shield nuts to 50 in.-lbs.

Done.

Not that shield, each plug has a shield,,,,, Take a pair of pliars grab a corner of the shield twist the shield and pull out at the same time. One or two may bend, but just bend them back! when reinstalling put the boot through the shield connect boot then put shield back in! It a pain in the azzzz but thats how I did it! SGT.F

I used a good pair of needlenose pliers... grabbed the middle of the heat shield, then you can get the plug heat shield wiggled out of there. I did not need to remove all 10 shielding's... I think it was plug 6,8, and 10... all the others I was able to remove spark plug with conventional socket.

Good luck

I used a thinwall socket and some WD-40 on the outside of the socket. I didn't have to remove the tin shields but it might have been easier.

I changed mine yesterday, the first 1 came out without problems. The rest I had to wiggle the heat shield to the sides so the socket to fit.

Mine I got a 5/8 plug socket (keep the rubber in there) that I didn't really care about, removed the rubber, grounded the bottom half outside, let it cool down, put the rubber back in, and BINGO! Fit like a charm...that is now my 'thin-walled' socket :D
