Got a question i for some reason I could never get it to stop leaking from the bonded washers I got. I ordered a replacement set of them but is there a different more oem style AN fittings from say Earl's Plumbing I don't know the thread size I think I have the pitch is 1.5 but not the size. Does some one here know there actual size. This has been a constant problem that for some first time fixed the issue but not in my case. I did also ordered from a known vender but he's on the east coast just wanted to find a fix and so I can use the aftermarket hoses that I already have and stop! This leak so I can focus on driving the truck and the other issues on the list.

Exactly where is the leak ? The hose end or the block end ? I Didn’t have problems changing my fittings and PS hose kit bought from JTVSP .. Well except installers error and can’t remember , but think I screwed up the threads on it .. I contacted Tony and told him I need to buy a new one ! Tony said don’t worry about it and just sent me a new one which I received in a couple days ..
I im not mistaken the fitting were Earls fitting in the kit if that’s the case Earls should have the specs and if not contact JTVSP and talk to Tony.. it’s been over a decade easily since I installed them ..
PS: I think there is a copper washer on the block side of the fitting that can easily fall out . Maybe even a crush type washer . IThink it also came with the JTVSP KIT !
PSS: China fitting ? I will question their quality and standards ..

It's leaking from the bonded washer side threads area hydraulic fan side i got a different vender aftermarket fittings could never get to stop leaking assumed it's a bad bonded washer ordered a new replacement bonded washer. I did order jtsv just didn't know the thread size and want to order a close to me replacement aftermarket. There is an earls in so cal that I can drive to. Both trucks I owned this was a problem even with aftermarket so I have to rule out user myself instructions are straight forward. It's been a while since I last ordered the aftermarket hoses and buying products from x person and so on

So it’s the the fan hydraulics .. the was thinking at the pump area .. even though mine has not had a problem with the fan hydraulic connections … ( knock on wood ).. can you or have you tried a little Teflon tape on the threads , they make thread putty for higher pressure type connections like air compressors. Maybe that would help .. just don’t put it on the threads and let it hang over where it can enter the system and should not be used on the flared side from what I’ve read , never tried that though ..

I've tried that and more. I followed all given instructions. Si i eventually her to rule out bonded washers as a possible factor.

Well damn ,, seems like options have run out .. wondering if there could be a casting flaw or very small hairline crack .. hope not .. Maybe some will chime in that has dealt with this problem ..

Yeah this sucks when it's a different issue. And others gave had way better install luck. I'm just waiting on 2 parts wanted so much money on solutions. More then a brand new set of aftermarket power steering set.

Hopefully those parts will fix the problem. Let us know if it works .
In the meantime time hoping someone that had this problem and fixed it will chime in ?

The last option cost big money .. installing one of the after market fan kits and eliminating the hydraulic fan system .. There are a few that have modified it on here ( posts , threads ) JMB Performance has kits..

I have seen that kit. And yeah it's not cheap. I have thought about it. But any help is welcomed because if it happened to me it may happen to someone I hope not but at least this will be documented.

Excellent ..

Hello...
I also tried the aftermarket hose kit but asking the flat washer to hold back 1500 psi didn't work in my application. The leak was steady, even well under maximum pressure.

I took the original leaking o.e.m. hoses to an Industrial Hose business and they reused the factory fittings and, no more leaks.

I know some (many?) had luck with the aftermarket setups.

I wasn't so lucky.

I've tried to have the oem hose fixed with an updated non quick connect style but still leaked that's $80 down the drain. Bought a used powers steering hose took a gamble but leaked as well that's a $100 down the drain. I've asked many people and businesses to try and fix the hoses or make me a oem style such as what you did i read about your issue on one of the posts. But it seems hose builders just aren't as good as they say they are. But they can sure fix other stuff in the same fasion.

They are out of warranty and and the vendors aren't close by to begin with. It's been many years after this issue. I know I'm right on a bad batch of parts as that can be a factor. And I know the problem is per say stupid and one of those i knew it.

Have you had a shop look at it for an opinion? Are you making the repairs yourself? At least if they fixed it it would have some sort of warranty?

Good luck talk about frustrating!

I'm taking a wild guess here as I know nothing about washers lol but I did read somewhere that they make self centering bonded washers, if yours aren't you could read on that
Just a thought!

From the VCA car forum and good to know?'

There is alot of info on the Gen 3 power steering issues

There is alot of info on the Gen 3 power steering issues

Old info but...

The teflon-type swivel joint inside the upper power steering hose reacted with the ATF+4 and many leaked as they slowly fell apart.

The same thing was known to happen with the 48RE cooler hose check valves.
