So what is the correct fluid??
I had taken just the hose not the whole truck as it leaks pretty bad. Not worth towing it and then paying to tow it back at least not in my budget. But I lost the receipt it's been years that I got it modified.Have you had a shop look at it for an opinion? Are you making the repairs yourself? At least if they fixed it it would have some sort of warranty?
Good luck talk about frustrating!
I tried some but I got the wrong size I belive not the self centering ones and they have dowty bonded washers they have many styles not sure which is best suited. But I have them on order from the ones I originally bought the fittings from. And another style coming from jtsv it's a waiting game. And I did go to earls plumbing today and he gave me some crush washers and see if it works he did say the 20mm x 1.50 he doesn't have it's unique or at least at his store. So that's another option I can try.I'm taking a wild guess here as I know nothing about washers lol but I did read somewhere that they make self centering bonded washers, if yours aren't you could read on that
Just a thought!
Yes ATF+4 IS the correct fluid but not for the teflon fittings that were used. Some fell apart and some did not which adds to the confusion. So what is the correct fluid??
Perfect! Thank You!Yes ATF+4 IS the correct fluid but not for the teflon fittings that were used. Some fell apart and some did not which adds to the confusion.
Thumbs upNo charge.
Let us hope one works ..,let us know which oneI got some updates. Yesterday I removed the used oem pump to fan power steering line i also removed the rack to pump power steering line. I ended up going to earls plumbing a few days ago he gave me crush washers. Is all he could do and said try it out and see. Instead of returning the bonded washers I got from Amazon I said F*** it and give it a shot ive already tried a bunch of other tries. So today I will add atf+4 and see if it leaks. Also today I should be getting the aftermarket fittings from one vender and tomorrow I should be receiving the bonded washers for the other style fitting I have. So at this point in time I have 4 options one of them has to work.
Inspect the pump at the fitting connections for possible hairline cracks or casting stubble and threads may he some sort if defect .I got some updates. Sounds good .. Hope it does hold .. Isn’t there a air bleeder on the power steering like the cooling system ?Quick update. Yesterday I installed the bonded washers I got from Amazon. Made a mess overfilled power steering resorvior because my smart self was so anxious couldn't wait. Turned it on. Cycled the steering wheel lock to lock. No leaks. I knew it was going to go dry because of the empty space so I added more power steering fluid and again made a smaller mess. but cleaned it up. Did the same steps steering wheel feels good and no leaks. Will check again when I get home and confirm and put any parts I used.
I'm not sure if there is a bleeder screw haven't noticed one. But after letting it sit for a day noticed a seep again smaller that my previous seeps. I again tighten the aftermarket power steering fittings just giving that extra snug with out over tightening them. Will check again. Wierd thing is it didn't seep while running or waiting about 1 hour.Sounds good .. Hope it does hold .. Isn’t there a air bleeder on the power steering like the cooling system ?
This is what it looks after I cleaned it up came home from work. I will be switching to the other style fittings and see how it works out.Hopefully a little residual left from the install .. What have you found ?
Did you run it when you got home or is that just from sitting and not started ?This is what it looks after I cleaned it up came home from work. I will be switching to the other style fittings and see how it works out.
