I Cant Find a JOB.... This is unbelievable

Roy is right, you gotta sell yourself. Dress for success and have that winning attitude when you talk with employers. With sales you have lots of options. Without sales most businesses are done.............they always need good salespeople.

Good luck..................on Maui we have more jobs than people. Its really, really difficult to find employees much less good ones.

Have you worked at all in that time period for extra income? Besides ebay.
Try Golf course work ,they are always hiring....Pay is not the greatest but may help to supplement income till you can get something better...I started out in the maintenace dept with no experence in 1994 after my devorce....I was dead broke....with in 6 months I became a forman and within a year and a half was a assitant superintendent-----6 months after that I became a full Superintendent and the income went way up...I did learn the business by useing past maintenance records for chemical apps and cultural practices timing----I was working for American Golf Corp...one of the biggest golf course management companies in the world....their are private and public courses ,,private owned, member owned and municipal type courses all over the state of florida....and you may get free golf and a lunch

Jonathan, the Prof gave you some really good advice. When I was in college I was told something similar by a professor in passing. He basically said to never look for a job with strictly money on your mind. You should find something you like, get your foot in the door and the money will eventually follow. That, coupled with the invaluable advise from my late grandmother urging, "NEVER give up," I always try to convey this wisdom to anyone else who would listen. I am sure it's not YOU that's the problem about not getting calls for your applications. It could very well be the location you are residing in. Have you ever considered moving your family away from Fla? What is your experience/educational background? If you've never attended college have you ever thought about attending? If you haven't it's never too late for anyone. I didn't begin college until the end of my first career at age 28, 7 years ago. If I can do it I am sure anyone can. PM me if you don't feel comfortable answering out in the open. But I am sure I can speak for us all that you are among nothing but friends here bro.

PM me your resume so that I may submit it all over my company, Baker Hughes Inc. I'm an engineer in the oil industry and I have contacts in other companies such as Weatherford, Haliburton and Schluberger. There is a broad spectrum of available positions opened within all of these similar companies. I hope this bit of information helps and I wish you the best bro.

Everyone, everyone must go to college. That is not to say that everyone has to have a bachelors, masters or Ph.D.

What it says is that there is a vast amount of very important information emerging every day...all of us need to update our knowledge base as often as possible, we can never catch up, there is just too much...but trying is important.

For someone looking for employment...the fact that you are pursuing knowledge even if your are only taking one course...well it says much more about you than you can imagine. Often I have looked very closely at people without a degree as possible candidates for a degree requiring position if they were in school.

My guru Stephen Covey says: "Sharpen the Saw"...this refers to continuous improvement of your skills (tools).

I agree on the continuing education bit...I am one course away from my third Master's Degree (1 in Information Systems and 2 in Computer Science) and will potentially start a Doctoral Program in January. Employers will say to me...do you just love to not have free time, but I can assure you they respect the effort, even if they will not do it themselves.

up here in washington people are hiring like crazy- its werid how things are different state to state- GOOD LUCK try to stay positive :)

If It makes you feel better right now I'm being sued for everything I have. I am also foreclosing on 3 homes:( I think everyone this year is in deep water. Tough times guys:(

Sorry to Hoe but Dauuuumn. I hope things turn around for both or you.

Sounds like you were selling cars by the hours and pay you listed.

What kind of skill set do you have ? Are you looking in the right fields ?

Is there anything you're NOT willing to do ? Everywhere in the world needs midnight to 8 AM 911 operators and things of that nature that require little to no experience and / or education (not saying this is your case).

...and like everyone else has said, don't apply for a job. Sell yourself to someone offering a career.

Here's my dilema ................. I would probably be able to get a job in a heartbeat if I could afford to make minimum wage. The career I had paid way way way more than minimum wage. Companies in my area are closing down and merging and there is no way I can get back in until the economy turns around  I am getting mad and I am getting broke fast. WTF is someone like me supposed to do at my age???

Any ideas anyone. I cannot just work to starve to death and lose everything I have worked so hard for over the last 25 years. Time is getting critical for me and my heart is palpitating :(

Any Ideas, do they have a college class on survival :dontknow: :dontknow: :D

Thanks for listening,

Signed,
Frustrated to beat hell

The only thing I can suggest is if either of you (Wifey or CubanEvo) have any special skills (get your mind out of the gutter, I'm being serious here) is to try and take that and start your own business. Work for yourself. Find clients that need your skill. I took a buyout from IBM after 15 years with them to start my own business.

I had experience installing garage doors of all things and the area I live in didn't have anyone local doing that. So I went around putting business cards in permit boxes and started getting calls. It was slow at first but once I developed a good reputation, all I do is answer the phone now. No advertising. It's all word of mouth. And I'm booked out into December already.

This is just my example of taking something you know how to do and instead of doing it for someone else, you do it for yourself. It's just finding that niche that nobody else is doing but there is a need for it. Good luck in whatever you do.

We are all benefiting from the Trickle Down economic theory, NAFTA,and the
Ripple Affect associated such garbage and the Politicians that sold us All out:(

The trouble is the Trickle Down theory is just a way of saying Piss on You!:(

The NAFTA Treaty is just a way to allow businesses to go some where else to avoid paying a real Living Wage........Businesses love child labor and substandard pay rates!!!!

And the Ripple Affect is affecting All sectors of employment. From the diesel mechanics that just a few months ago could not catch up are now spending a couple of days a week at home.

The local restaurants are even slowed down. My friend has owned 4 Burger King franchises for 30 + years and he is on the way to going out of, well you get it. The Ripple is or Will affect us All, it is just a matter of time.

Oh ,The Politicians????????? Just Shoot Them All.
