I could fill these pages every day with stories of cops gone bad. It happens everywhere and it happens often. And who knows how much shit we never hear about because of the big blue wall of silence.

But there is a timely story that is in the news right now.

Seems that a cop shot a HA in Sturgis the other night. Now that in itself might be news, but not much of a story at all. But it gets better.

The cop was an off duty Seattle officer, a long long ways from home. He was in a bar. Carrying in a bar in SD is illegal, unless it is in the course of duty.

He was also a member of the Wild Pigs. For those that don't know the Wild Pigs are a bunch of cops and feds who have decided to emulate the lifestyle that they seem to hate so much. They ride motorcycles and wear a 3 piece patch, again for those that don't know a 3 piece patch signifies a "serious" motorcycle club. One that knows and follows the rules of the MC world.

They also sport a state bottom rocker. When a state bottom rocker is worn with a 3 piece patch it is "claiming" territory. This doesn't mean that only one club can do it, but any clubs that want to put that on better get the blessing of the dominant club or be prepared to fight for it. But these guys do it because, according to their own web site, "we can". That's because they are cops and in their minds untouchable by those that live 24/7 in the world that they want to play in on the weekends.

Anyway, seems this wild pig got into a scuffle with this one HA and had to resort to shooting him after getting scratched up a little bit.

Here's the real kicker though folks. No charges have been filed, no one has been arrested. Now they are convening a grand jury that will no doubt come back to say that no charges should be filed. If it had been the other way around the HA would probably be held with no bail (which also seems to fly in the face of the constitution if I read it right).

Believe me when I say I've got no love for the HA, not one scrap. But this whole thing is wrong, on many levels.

Why wasn't this guy at least charged with carrying in the bar at first while the investigation went on? Why is it that cops want to play at being hardcore on the weekends, and want to look and act (up until it's time to man up at least) just like those that they consider gangsters and scumbags? How is it that just because he is a cop he will probably get away with it? Hell, they used feds and 150 swat members to raid a Christian club here last week that had to stab 2 HA when a brawl started.

I think that anyone that swears to uphold the law should be held to a higher standard than the rest. That includes cops and politicians. Just my opinion. There's my cop rant for today hehehehe.

Just one more thing, I hear lots of cops here and elsewhere say "that's just the assholes that we have" every time there is a story like this, or when a cop abuses his power, or any number of other felonious behavior is exhibited by a cop. Isn't it your job to try to eliminate the assholes of the world, by getting them off the streets? You should start by cleaning your own house, cause until that happens the public won't trust you, with good reason.

Oops, just one more thing I wanted to touch on. I see people always talking about cops being underpaid. Well, I know a deputy from out here (and we are not a rich county by any means) who will be retiring next year in his 40's. For the rest of his life and the life of his young wife, he will be receiving more money on retirement than I have ever made in my life. Six figures, plus medical and all that other shit. Sounds like decent $$$ to me.

no i change the oil in the mini van and splashed a 4 in round puddle and it soaked into concret wont come out on its own from rain water ,and im to lazy to go scrub it and if the ho dog slut wants it off driveway she can damn well come do it herself right after she measures my grass height

We always forget about the 10%, it doesn't matter what profession or where you live or what race, there is always that 10% that is FUBAR and you wonder how the hell they got that position, FAMILY OR FRIENDS get the 10% of FUBARRED people ahead in this world. I.E. Politicians,Cops(certain areas,cough Chicago) Fireman,DOT, list just goes on and in the military in my Bn we hid our 10% far away from weapons and gave them lawn mowers and weed wackers if there gonna hurt anyone it might as well be themselves.IMO

From what I can see he did no real wrong (cop). Once a chase started everything changes, we all know that. Now, that doesn't mean I think it's ok for the cops to kick the shit out of someone once they catch them (which does seem to happen quite a bit). But I think in this case the lethal force was appropriate.

Now, saying this, I don't know shit about regulations. He may have been way out there when he jumped into the car. And if that is the case then shooting was also wrong, only because it happened because of a violation. Just like it's murder if your buddy (who you didn't know had a gun) shoots the clerk when you are both robbing a 7-11.

Now go ahead and admit it, nobody saw this coming from me bwahahahahahahahah.

OCBob FYI, We are put on a pedestal. We can't do anything without being sued or scrutinized by the public who simply don't understand. We don't expect you to and we know its part of the job to be haggled and picked apart every day. Now, that jersey officer is gonna be sued because he shot some scumbag piece of trash that was endangering the lives of innocent people.

Do you guys seriously think all of us out there are assholes and corrupt? Or are you still pissy because one of us gave you that speeding ticket so many years ago and was an ass to you? Get a grip.

I have gotten tickets like this nollied numerous times. Before you spend money on a retainer I would call the prosecuting attorney with jurisdiction over the citation/arrest. Most of the time, if you have a clean driving record, they will reduce it to a non-moving violation.

Although he was completely within his rights to make an arrest it was obviously excessive. And for those screaming Miranda; you only have to give Miranda if the suspect is questioned about elements of the crime he was arrested for while in custody. Doesn't seem to be the case here.

Wish we could say this doesn't happen or won't again but it will. Just be cautious about where and when you play.

Got pulled on the interstate by a "county mounty" (for you Tony)... first thing out of his mouth was what did you do to this thing to get it to sound like that?... next thing you know were BS 'n about HP. I was clocked at 88 on the interstate. Have a nice day.

The other "moron" gave me a 10 minute speech on how I should know better being in Public safety....was doing 46 in a 40, after dropping Dad off at the airport. Was not doinga burnout... squeeling tires... just cruizin home. I forget what the ticket $$ was... first violation in can't remember how long.

You shouldn't be surprised. Take a look around you at all the assholes that are out giving the public a ration of shit every time they pull someone over. Take a look at the guys that have no respect for the public and show it every time they interact with them. You guys are the ones that need to get a grip. You are not some kind of army, here to rule with an iron hand.

The police in this country have been so militarized in the past 20 years that it's ridiculous. That's why folks hate you. Do you really think it is reassuring to an old lady when she is pulled over in her car for some minor traffic violation to be approached by some guy dressed like he is ready to raid an Al-queda stashhouse, and has the attitude to match? There is a reason that regular folks dislike you guys. But from what I have seen, none of you give a shit what anyone thinks.

And as far as a pedestal, I'm talking about the one that somehow makes most cops think they are above the law. And you can't tell me they don't.

How can a cop turn a blind eye to the criminals that work beside him, and give them a pass just because they are cops too? How can a cop be labeled a rat for upholding the law, because the offender is another cop? See, when I swore to uphold the constitution I meant it. Seems that an awful lot of cops didn't mean it when they swore to uphold the law. They will lie on the stand (I've seen it firsthand more than once). But instead of the good cops trying to get rid of them, they protect them. Explain that please.

And FYI, I can't remember the last time I got a ticket. I can tell you that I have been pulled over at least 500 times since then. I know that because I get pulled over at least a couple of times a month, and I haven't had a ticket in 15-20 years. I was cited last year for a little incident involving a mirror that fell off a car next to me, but that was the only time in a long, long time that my contact with the cops turned into anything more than a waste of 1/2 of my time.

Most of the time when I'm pulled over I find myself in cuffs though. And of course the cop wants to search my vehicle, to which I always reply no. So then, they call in the dog, and we have to wait for that. But, they never find anything, probably because I'm breaking no laws, other than that unwritten law of DWB (driving while biker), talk about being scrutinized. And 90% of the time, they are all attitude. Which, by the way, I will give right back. I treat the exactly how they treat me. Treat me with respect and you'll get it back, treat me like an asshole and I'll give it back tenfold.

Maybe if you cleaned your own house the public might gain some respect for you guys. But you and I both know that will never happen. If you cover up for a corrupt or abusive officer in your department you are no better than he. Think about that. And then tell me honestly that you have never ever seen a fellow officer do something wrong, but if you did you reported it. If you can tell me that you are either pretty new to the game or pretty naive is my guess.

Let me also make it clear that I don't believe that every cop is an asshole. I know that there are guys out there that are doing the best they can, and doing it honorably. But it sure seems that those numbers are growing smaller every day.

The reason folks hate us is because we are the first line freedom takers. I could seriously give a shit about god damn traffic stops. Big deal. I hardly write tickets because I'm too worried about scum dealin and breakin into hard working people's homes.

As for the "blue wall" I have experienced that. Not personally though. When I worked for troopers there was an incident that I heard of many years ago that was surprising to say the least. In my department, people get fired all the time for doing stupid crap. If someone screws up, the higher ups make sure they are made an example of. I'm not gonna tell you that the "silent wall" doesn't happen. I'm sure it does all the time. I just don't think its as prevalent as you seem to believe. Not in Montgomery anyways. I refuse to lie to protect anyone. I'm not gonna lose my job because that is exactly what happens around here when you do.

Why? If you say no to a search then we can't search it unless we have sufficient probable cause. I have never asked to search a vehicle. I've always told someone I'm going to search. By the time I tell them, I have enough PC to do it and I don't need their permission anymore.


I can't believe I'm wasting my precious hours of sleep to discuss this. :argh:
