Dude, I think the quality of life is better just about anywhere but here. The only shittier places I can think of off hand might be Detroit or Flint Michigan...and that's pushing it. Actually, they're probably equal to Pittsburgh.

i live here in greenville, s.c..not too bad here. it gets very humid in summer...fairly mild winters...economy is growing, businesses are booming...alot of automotive business here now (bmw, magna drive, etc)

Greenville is a little west of Rock Hill, right? Do you get a lot of snow there? I know some parts of the state see snowfall every winter, although it's nothing like the brutal 5 month winters we get here in PA.

not much if any snow, maybe a dusting. one or two ice storms. but if you want to see snow or go skiing, boone and banner elk (both in n.c.) are just a couple hours drive away. gatlinburg and pigeon forge, tn arent far away either...we are between charlotte and atlanta, so you can get your fix for most anything within a couple hours drive...

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I can't wait. The wife was online last night browsing some jobs down there. She said it looked extremely promising, and she's just as stoked as I am.

Her job right now is the main reason why we're moving. She's at just about the highest pay rate she can get in this region with her qualifications. It's still a very low number in comparison to what she could make down there. Also, her hours here are horrible. She leaves for work at 6 a.m. and she doesn't get home most nights until midnight. She's lucky if she gets 4 hours of sleep / night. That's the price she has to pay to have that job title in this area. It sucks.

She's a cost accountant, and she's qualified to be a controller. Three of the four companies she's worked for (including this current one) have been in the manufacturing sector. It's been the same story every time. Union bullshit, which in turn trickles up to office personnel. Companies have to cut so many corners around here to stay in business because of the unions. That means when a strike happens, or a union contract is up for renewal, salaried heads begin to get cut.
