i had to put my xmetal one back in cause the BBk did this all the time ,,,since it was new and under warrenty they had me return it :dontknow: funny part was it only did it after driving for an hour or so ,,when cold it did not do it ,,i think when the metal got hot it expanded making it tight and start to drag and stick ,,so the comment on it HAS to be a duel blade is false :itsme:

not sure on the single blade, but the end play on the BBK is next to nothing compared to the stock TB.

Yea, no shit...... Gonna pull the intake for plug wires soon. Thats gonna be my chance to get them out.

i have never looked, someone needs to do a write up on what to do when you buy your truck. this would address the common things like what to check if it is loose, what to clean, what to change ECT. time to get a catch can i guess. or i can do like i did in the diesel, run a hose to the ground and just dump it.
 
This can be caused by lots of things. TB, tune, iac, tps, vac issues. I would put the stock tb on and drive it for a week, if it doesn't go away, Then put the stock tune in and try another week.

how bout the "basic" maintenance that apply to all multi-port TBed engines????:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :elefant:

Tried stock tune and still did it. I'm gonna clean it today, then when I get wires I'm gonna pull it off, replace the stripped bottom bolts (anyone know the size??) and worse case, put the stock back on. I was able to find a stock body from a member here.

i had 245K on my buick, never had to clean it, had 237 on my honda, when it came off i noticed how clean it was.

the only exception was my VW diesel, the EGR would dump tons of trash into the intake until it was the size of a straw.... but that was a widely known issue.

Agreed mine is the same with short and long trips. Cant be carbon build up cause i got less than 500 miles with no tuner.

take a q-tip put a dab of oil on it and hit the ends of the shaft as they start into each blade ,work it by hand then drive it,,,i will bet problem will go away till oil is gone ,,or you could give it a tiny squirt of wd-40 ,this is how i found out my bbk and xmetal was dragging and sticking not due to tune ,i pulled it off and pulled out blades to find small drag marks on aluminum part of body,,swapping and buying parts just to see if it will work is not the way to do it ,,,just my 2 cents thats only worth 1.5 in this economy

This can be caused by a couple of different things:

1. If it just started recently acting up, it's probably a sticking throttle blade that needs to be cleaned or lightly dressed with some emory cloth or a fine, thin-bladed file.

2. If it does this immediately after installing a larger TB and you are sure that it's not sticking, you need to back off the idle-stop screw so that the base idle airflow rate is lower. This will force the idle speed controller motor to have to open up the pintle a bit more to maintain idle. Normally, the ECU tells the pintle how many clicks to remain open at various speeds for smooth throttle on/off transitions. The values it uses are for a stock TB. If a larger TB (or one with the idle stop screw holding the throttle open more) is installed, there can be too much airflow when the truck first returns to idle. This will cause the idle to hang high for a second or so when first coming to a stop. The ECU will then tell the idle air control motor to close off the pintle a bit to bring the idle back down. But, it will have to do this every time you come to a stop from speed. The soloution is to back off the idle stop screw so that the idle air pintle is more in the center of it's range.
