what would you rather build ,and why

an leaving out all times and so forth, because to some , actuall track times are not important,

so basically what kind of build would you want to do, and why?

and how would you go about it?

Having been faced with this issue before and as you can see from my signature line I could not decide and went with all three.

The N/A build is by FAR the most expensive but the most rewarding.

Would go with a blank billit block and bore it out to 580-600 cubes
Stryker R heads and Cam
AEM contoller
Custom crank
All Forged internals
Compression ratio of 11:1 which can happen without using race gas....
Custom long tube headers with cat delete and side exhaust
Fully built G-force tranny
Quaife diff
custom air intake
etc etc etc....

If tuned right you are looking from 650-700Hp.

an N/A has power all over the power band, turbos need to spool, Roe SC die off at higher RPM, Paxtons don't hit until upper RPM. N/A is always right now.

But there are positives and negatives to each build, which is why I have all three. :thrasher:

I would go NA, built by Arrow. All forged internals, stryker heads, cam, etc. and Torrie's tunes, upgraded clutch and hydraulics, beef up trans internals and install a JTSVP upgrade rear axle. Doing the engine alone is fine but the rest of the system has to survive and get power to the ground.

I always thought power adders were "cheating" of sorts, well except for Top Fuel & Funny Cars, lol... I owned a turbocharged Dodge Daytona Turbo Z -- what a POS that thing was. Turbo lag was terrible. I swore it took the engine to rev to 3 grand before the turbo kicked in and then it had a tendency, well actually it did, a lot, to snap motor mount brackets. I got pretty good at changing them and became really good friends with the local Chrysler parts guys...

I vote N/A which I'm doing now as a DD/ street beast with some track time.... I believe N/A is the best way to go as far as reliablity and like previously said......you have the power all through the rpm's

My future performance list is going
1. HTS Tranny with convertor
2. Strikers with bumped compression
3. Mild engine build

The roes do not drop at higher rpm Im pushin 10lbs to 5500 in 5th gear (if your fuel system is not good then fuel psi drops in higher rpms then you have problems).
I stuck with street because there are alot of guys with alot of money at the track and I can beat all 3 on the street:aetsch: also 700hp is plenty for the street:burnout: :burnout: :itsme: only thing I may do is raise compression to 10:1 thanks Ronnie:rock: :p

I'll answer, but u already know my plan, father.
Simple F.I. Build. Pistons, rods and bearings. Ported intake and heads, valve work. Gonna run 12-14 lbs, hoping for a safe 700 rwhp. Will be a daily driver and of course, some track duty. Hopefully it'll be done by this time next year.

Buy a 96-99 Viper GTS
Full exhaust
Clutch
Shifter
Upgrade brakes
Upgrade fuel system
Some head work and a cam
Roe with a 10# pulley
Some sticky ass tires, and a bunch of visual mods

Ultimate street machine, running 10s all day:burnout: That's my plan(maybe);)

have talked to you about my interests many time so sure you know how i voted and what i am thinking :D

I'd do and still recommend the same thing; particularly if someone is still using the brittle o.e.m. pistons: Strikers and a small('ish) cam.

My own truck:
97% street and highway use. QC= Grocery Getter...;)
Occasional pass down the 1/4 mile... 5610 pounds isn't really a serious gas powered drag vehicle in my mind. :)

However, now that the o.e.m. pistons are in the garbage, I can ramp up the program....there is definitely more power in there...I'm curious to see how far I can push it without using headers..

Ronnie

I would yank the V10 and drop in a TT Nealson Racing Engine and the reason would be it could be done in in about 2 months. monster Hp, lighter motor, Nasty sound. Yea yea yea, but it is not a V10 right??? to hell with you this is my dream build :D :D :D :D :D

forged , well built bottom end.
strikers, cam setup
100 shot for some fun at the track!
600 horse is enough on the street ! These trucks are to damn heavy to go really fast without spending a ton of cash. !!! could drive to pcb from here without issue.someday, maybe soon... build like this would be good for 100,000 miles and i would still be driving it when i am as old as prof... :D

the truck would be nothing but a pile of dust on the floor when you hit Prof's age :D :D :D :D :D

Sorry Prof, had to go there after the penis falling off thing :p

turbo. because i believe it could be done for less then $1000 and be useful for 6 psi with no problem. a simple under chassis mounting, just after the O2 sensor would be great.

Hmm... Yer talkin' to a guy that got NoS but prolly won't ever use it. At this point it doesn't matter if I had a hamster wheel under the hood :dontknow: I'd still love lookin' at her.
