The Fishing was Awesome and it snowed in July

It took us 5 hours of driving south just to get to Edmonton

Not surprised that it snowed in July but we do tend to get pretty warm summers for Northern Canada. Only 3 hrs to Edmonton from here though, you possibly might have drive south to Lloydminster first and then West to Edmonton, that would take all of 5 hrs for sure.
