Well I got home about 2 hours ago.......

Was leaving college class afterr my final at about 7pm. Made a right hand turn onto a 3 lane road. Right after the turn is a bridge over a highway. Thats were it all went wrong. I was in my 2006 4x4 reg cab 1500 and as i applied a little gas at a time to get going about the point I was between 35-40mph the back end let loose over the slick semi ice and over salted road. The tail spin sent me towards the concrete wall over the highway. I had very little time to react, turned the wheel as fast as I could to counter but it was to late the passenger side hit the barrier and pulled the whole passenger side into the wall. As I was getting her away from the wall the rear bumper caught and spun me left, head on to the center concrete barrier. As this happened my foot slipped half off the break and 1/2 on to the accelerater and I hit the center divider head on at at least 35-40 mph. I bounced off into the middle lanes and the truck ceased, both air bags went off, Front end pushed in at least 2 feet onto the engine, bumper gone, passenger side damaged the whole way down. Went deaf for about 30-50 seconds, couldnt remember what happened for about 30 seconds after the hit couldnt even hear anything right after impact like a bomb went off. I think I was definatly in shock, smashed my hand, and ankle real good and am getting aches all over developing from impact. I was lucky:( Truck looks like it might be totaled, will try and get pics up soon, just more bad luck my way. Waiting till the morning to see if I need to go to the emergency room to be looked at more, the paramedics checked all my vitals and said I was ok, and id be sore tomarrow. No ticket because the officer, I think felt bad for me, I tried so hard to save her and the other traffic that stopped probably told him that. I missed all traffic praise god, im ok just really sore and upset. Have to call the insurance tomarrow, and see what happens now. Never totaled a vehicle before ever and cant believe how the ram became so uncontrolable, was so fast and terrible.

Please be careful out there guys, this weather here has been awful. With this happening so close to christmas I nearly broke down thinking about how much worse this could have been. I am thinking the srt will have to go if they total my truck because im actually a little afraid now after trying to handle this truck in this incident. This is the first time I can actually say I had no control and no chance:(.

All I can say is kiss and hug the ones close to you because you never know.

Very sorry to hear this, Bro... But, glad you are ok and no-one was hurt. Pickup trucks are about the worst handling vehicles there is. It didn't matter what make or model you were in... the patch of ice was there, and your vehicle's wheels spun.... nothing you could do. :dontknow: :(

God bless...

Praise be to God that you're still in one piece and reasonably uninjured....

This will make your holiday spirit soar..... I believe you'll be more thankful for the simple things and enjoy them all so much more..... Being alive and well, with your loved ones and having the mere essentials is so much more than many people in the world can imagine.....

Thanks for putting my day into perspective..... God bless you, Mike.....

I'm so glad that you're OK......

Tim

taking only advil right now, wont know the full damage until tomarrow when I wake up. I cant even remember if I hit my head, I dont think so, might have blacked for a sec but then i was aware again. Probably why my hand is hurt, must have put it up I think to block the air bag from blowing off in my face. Believe I just was in pretty good shock, still getting rid of the after affects currently. Im up still but soon im going to go get rest but just wanna make sure im not still in any form of shock before I attempt to sleep. Got decent coverage and gap ins so hopefully it will all work out, really dont have the 500 for my deductable but ill figure it out, just still cannot believe this happened to me.

I know, but never had this problem with any pickup before, ever! This will most likely be my last pickup ever. Not going through this again.

Dear tim , please pray for me to get my a$$ back in school ,please forgive my lack of skills, I promise to try and hone my skills: need help:dontknow:

its good to hear u made it out and you are sleeping at home:congrats:

As far as the truck goes it is unfortunate but these things can even be handful on dry payment. Dont worry bout the deductible, they will take out the final sum on what they will give you for it...

On a lighter note, is the motor and paxton busted?

There is a lot more worse things than loosing control and F ing up the ride. Firstly, I'm glad that YOU are OK. At least no one else was hurt and you can always repair the truck.

Mike, terrible news, but you seem to be in one piece and that is what is most important.

And as a professor, I must say, I'm glad it happened after the final! If you have more finals this week focus on them first...then get the other things in line.

You know my number, call if I can do anything...I give my last final tomorrow, so I will be able to help if needed. Maybe lunch to develop some strategies...

Roy

God Bless bud..I will keep you in my prayers...:)

im glad to here your ok and yes every one needs to be extra carefull out there on thoese icy roads.

Thank God you are OK, sounds like this accident was unavoidable no matter what kind of vehicle you were driving.

Glad to hear you are OK mate. :) Your truck can always be replaced. Your physical and metal wounds will heal, not everything heals with time but in this case, yours will. I suggest you pick things up gradually in the SRT/10. Go out for several trips just cruising and gradually increasing speed until you feel comfortable. This is not your fault, ice/snow are dangerous, diesel and other crap can be around any corner. Luckily these trucks are pretty tough, heaps of impact zone in the rear AND front. Like Fight Club or Saw, you will wake up from now on with a new view of life, it's for the better.....trust me. :D Live every day it like it was your last (but don't go overboard and live it in jail). ;)

Take care, heal fast.

Cheers,
Carl

I think He was in His HEMI truck. On another note, I have been in a few very bad accidents, life flighted to Hermann Hospital in Houston once, just be thankful You are alive, it could have been so much worse. Don't worry about your deductable, they will take it out of the agreed value of Your truck, if it gets totalled. Hopefully You have GAP insurance, as the price of trucks has dropped imensely in the past year.

Sorry to hear about this Mike, I'm glad you're OK though. I've lost a vehicle on black ice in the past, scary as hell. Good move on getting GAP insurance, you'll be OK. The GAP will cover the difference between what the insurance pays out and the loan balance if the truck is totalled.

The fact it's YOU telling us about it shows that amid all of this there is still a streak of good luck. Wow bro that was a hell of a situation. It’s also a reminder that this could happen to any of us. I don’t think I would have done any better if I were to suddenly hit a patch of ice on the roadway. I hope the airbags deployed when you needed them most. Sounds like you may need to get some x-rays done. Also you may have suffered a slight concussion according to the description you gave. Advil won’t be enough. You definitely need to rest up for a while and seek medical attention..
