Well it's been a long day, but an un-eventfull one nonetheless.

We spent some time today at Dawn's Pain Management MD, and the MD pretty much summed it up... were not going to notice any changes from day to day, but after a few week's of IV antibiotics...should notice little improvement's...from week to week.
We said, (almost at the same time)... "we'll take it" .
The staff and MD was extremely polite, understanding, and concerned for Dawn's comfort level. Slight adjustment's in medication dose, and one complete Rx change, and we got her pain under control. She's pretty much on auto-pilot for the next few week's.

The shoulder is getting less painful, I was reminded it will be 4 months till I get cleared for full duty, and no lifting until 6 week's post -op... Damn that's a long time :banghead:
I will be back to light duty soon. I am optomistic that, by the time I go back to light duty.... Dawn will be less dependent on her walker to get around with. THAT would be GREAT!
I read the multiple threads of concern for us, to Dawn. By doing so... gives us hope, encouragement, and elevate's our spirit's.
WE are forever grateful
We do humbly request that everyone would keep Dawn and I in your prayer's, for continued strength and courage, so "we" can beat this terrible infection, and get our "normal" quality of life back. That is afterall, what's most important.

Thanks everyone for the support.  :)

Ken & Dawn

Kenny what did the Doc say about the Probiotics and the other I told you about ? :D

Going to call our PMD om Monday and have her write the Rx... too many people involved now, and they are pointing fingers... "well, let MD so -n - so figure that one out... Our family MD is great and she will be happy to write it. Funny though... her symptoms(as you described) are becoming apparent. She can't eat..then lay down... I call her my "little bubbler"... when I don't introduce her as " The Roadrunner ". She is pretty slow walking.

We will call you from the GTG today, and I will BS with you then.;)

Thanks Mikey... Dawn will certainly be more comfortable with the Protonix here, and available. I will let you know if it's a problem... but we have an outstanding relationship with our Primary MD.

Oh we ain't going no where until you guys get better...trust me on that...:)

I can say by the pics it looks like Ken and everyone elsed enjoyed themselves at the gtg last weekend with the local floridians  :D

Thanks everyone for the continued concern, prayers, and support.
I am glad to report that Dawn has made progress at weeks beginning... "sigh of relief". Me too (No hangover today;) :D )
Her improvement is in the slight reduction in pain, and improvement in ambulatory skills, to include moving without the assistance of the walker for short distances. We were able to take a walk this afternoon :stickyman: (she made it 4 houses and back), and her enthusiam was great... she took a stab at prepping dinner, and I finished it up. So a good day, however she is paying for all the "fun" from earlier....tonight... kinda sore but it's manageable.

Thank's everyone for the letter's of support, and please know that you have made a difference in our lives. It is allowing us to carry on and remain focused on getting Dawn (and myself) better, so that we can return to the wonderful quality of life we had, before this most unfortunate chain of events.

We will be so glad when this is over... it's taking so Damn long :(

Gratefully,

Ken & Dawn

Great to hear from you, I certainly hope all is well with you and yours. Thank you so much for the thought's and prayers. It is what's most important.

How long do you think it takes an un-corrected infection to manifest further into Osteomylitis?

It now sounds like you have turned the corner and things will only continue to get better from now on. :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks for the update Ken.:)

I'm glad to hear you two are getting better!! It's tough when both have issues at the same time, but you both can lean on each other and support each other.
The monkey's right, things will only get better now!!:D

:dito: :dito: :dito: :withstupid: :withstupid: :withstupid: ...

Have a wonderful day...

Stefan...

Morning,

Thought I would give an update. So far...so good, as as we near weeks end, we continue to see improvement's in Dawn.
She is moving better, pain is under control 95% of the time now...she just has these "moments" when the pain spout's off. We are thankfull that Mikey gave us the heads up about the side effect's of the Vanco Dawn is on...and we were able to curb the reflux with a good medicine.

This will be the end of week two of her IV antibiotics...the ringing in her ears has diminished, so were less worried about the hearing loss. The pharmacy that is responsible for getting the med's here on time, has been prompt, and a pleasure to deal with. 6 more weeks to go... we pray that her lab's continue to stay within normal limits, and continued improvement's are forthcoming.
The home health nurse dedicated to Dawn (Lisa) has been great.

My shoulder is improving, and is now feeling better than it did before surgery. Just have a limited ROM, and can't lift anything until 6 week's post-op.
According to the MD, at 12 weeks post-op I should be able to return to full duty, golf, ect.

Pretty neat administration set.... runs out pretty consistent @ 90 minutes. minutes. Can't believe Dawn is rounding month 5 for this whole mess.... :banghead: for an operation that should have only took 8-12 weeks admission to discharge.

We are finally getting into an "improvement pattern" It's nice to see Dawn have a smile on her face, and a "light at the end of the tunnel".

Dawn and I attribute our positive reinforcement to everyone here...first for the thought's and prayers that I read to her off the forum, the phonecall's, PM's, the post's, the GTG's, and finally the "support" that allows us to handle these:

Dawn and I "overwhelmingly appreciative", and can only say that every one of you here have made a wonderful difference in our lives. For that we will be forever grateful, and can only hope that someday we will be able to return the favor.

Respectfully,

Ken & Dawn

Hi Ken & Dawn,
It is nice to hear Dawn is doing so much better with the new meds and is out of that hospital. Being home and surrounded by friends is the best healing for anyone. It is also great to hear your recovery is going well. I hope that 1 of these days at a GTG we can all meet. :) Keep up the good recovery you 2 and have a great day.
