My pc is 6 years old and seems to catch more virus's than a cheap hooker. Had a mac before and am now thinking of going back. Macbook pro's are not cheap but what mac is? Need a laptop ASAP. Am considering a HP at costco onsale for $649, a dell about the same price(cept they take 2 weeks to ship) or a macbook pro $1600.

Got any advice? FYI on Maui we dont have the store options you have on the mainland.

Mac is awesome...i had a dell that lasted about 5 years up til the other day..
Don't get an HP my mom has one and both my brothers...They all 3 are equally as bad and one is running Vista just my $.02

build ur own - then put in 2 hard drive 1 or windows the other for linux - use ubuntu - it free - then u have the best of both worlds - as far as virus's get a program called NOD32 " ESET " problem solved

if u build it you can get a 2500 $ Quad 4-8g's max out ram nvida PC for about 750 $ with a 22" montor

macs are great. ive always had a dell growing up but when i graduated hs i wanted a mac. i got the imac and it is awesome. runs great and fast and its easy to use

Don't get a Dell or an HP. Trust me. Our company uses about 20 laptops at one time and the Dells have been nothing but trouble. As for HP, the problem with them is that they freeze up a lot. They will last a long time but freeze up too often. Our best success has been with Toshiba laptops. Of course, a Mac is the standard and you pay for it. If you are familiar with MAC and don't mind the cost and the fact that it is not 100% compatible with the most popular software applications then go for it. I will be getting a Toshiba next time.

I agree hp sux!

but one question, and I did this with one of my older puters,
if you like the one you have now patrick can he not jsut replace the harddrive?

If you are concerned with viruses and miscellaneous spyware I would personally go with a mac. If you are concerned with price, I would go with a PC.

I am not saying macs are immune but they do tend to do ALOT better than a PC when it comes to viruses and miscellaneous spyware.

Just my opinion.

I agree I bought the top of the line HP 2 years ago and running vista and it sucked ass....I now have the top Toshiba satellite I purchased at Wal Mart for 700.00 bucks and this thing is awesome. Dolby surround sound for the porn too....Toshiba is consistently ranked number 1 in Consumer Reports as well and I agree with them:D Macs are not compatible with a lot of software out there as well....But I've never had one either so I can't expound upon how good or bad they may be....Hope that helps Patrick :D

Forget to mention HP uses vista which I think sucks when I tried it last year. Dont know if its gotten any better? Costco has a 90 day return policy and the HP comes with a two year warranty. Part of me wants to get the Hp try it out and if I hate it or it freezes.....then return it and spend the money on a mac.

My computor has the "Personal Antivirus" virus. I believe its a fake antivirus software virus. I have heard of the nod32 but could not find it here and dont want to download anything where I have to enter CC info.

For some reason I didnt even look at walmart. I dont care for the store. Are the puters they sell the same as anywhere? For some reason I was thinking they were some cheap versions. Its good to know toshiba is a quality brand. I didnt know that. Are all pc's loaded with vista now or can you still get xp?

I'd be looking at a Dell, I've had 4 of them over the years and all have been great, My company uses Dell's and we are one of the biggest purchasers of Dell in the world. All of us IT types use Dell laptops.

I've got one of the first 3GHZ desktops ever produced by Dell (about 7 years old) and it's still running and would run Vista if I was dumb enough to install it.

Now you want a nice Dell, go for the Alienation M-17, what an awesome laptop, but it does have an awesome price tag too. Tricked out they run well into $6K.

macs are pc's. all the parts are the same. whats different is a fruit on the outside, and the OS. they can and do get virus' nowadays.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?

e-mail, pick one up at walmart, 299.
gaming, get a asus.

I bought a Mac last winter.....Works great and is the fastest laptop I have ever had;) They do cost a bit more but for itunes and pics, the Macs kick ass.. Just a bit tough to get used to the layout after using windows sooo long...go for the Macbook, you will be happy:rock:

Get a Mac! I have a 24" iMac and a Macbook. Never had a single problem with either of them. Had hp's in the past, and had many problems. Plus, Mac = No Viruses!
