I was on a trip with the family over new years weekend. One of the lines to the transmission cooler developed a leak on the road and blew out 2.5 liters of fluid over the course of the 300 miles home. It was in hard rain, so there was no give away smell. I would have never known it happened, except for the puddle of fluid I found when we stopped at home.
Stinker got me the double deep pan, which holds 4 quarts more than stock. So I had more than enough fluid to keep the tranny running well for the trip. The tranny worked perfect the whole trip. If I had the stock pan, the pump would have likely pulled air and who knows what would have happened.
BTW- For those concerned about clearance, the double deep pan is no closer to the ground than the oil pan bottom or the cross member there.
Thanks Tony.
