Maybe it’s a Tumor . . . Maybe not

Well damn.

First off I'm real sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this. I started to read it first thing this morning and realized I could not dedicate the time to it that it deserved.

As one of my many kids that I love on this site, you know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. If there was any possible way I could get out of working the hours that I do, I would jump on a plane this weekend and join you at the gathering just so I could give you a big furry hug.

However as a child, I'm also going to scold you. You should have shared this with us sooner. Look at the response you have received. You could have been receiving this love and support long ago.

Be sure to keep us informed on your progress. And remember, the power of this family is tremendous. If you absolutely need something, let us know. I'm sure we will be able to help in some way.

Stay strong, and never forget that we love you.

John.

John,

I am so blessed to know someone like you in my life. You are so well respected, by me as well as others. I have always thought the world of you - which seems unique since I have never had the chance to actually meet you in person.

I know you are a busy busy man, so just the thought of a big fury hug from you, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Yes, maybe you are right about maybe sharing this sooner, but there were so many others that were going through so much more that truly needed support over me. I was strong enough to handle it on my own - for awhile. And that's why I had to finally say something now - my confusion and frustration was only breaking down my will. I've had a hard time trying to find the support from my own family, and so I thought I would turn to my other family - the vtcoa.

Now at this point, it does not matter whether I said something awhile ago or said something yesterday - I have finally shared my pain and I am overwhelmed by all that have offered their kind words. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate all of it!

I know there's going to be many tests, evaluations, doctor's appointments, poking and proding :( but with each poke and test taken - I know I'll be that much closer to finding out what is wrong - meaning I'll be that much closer to starting a treatment plan. Whatever my path has in store for me, I will be sure to keep everyone updated as soon as I am

Again, thank you so much John!

Love,
Alex

Earl,

John's words - once again - have meant so much

Over the last few months, I have gotten really close to both you and Julie - and you both have been there for me.

You both have shown me the love that can come from friendship - and I owe you for that.

I can never repay you for all that you've done for me. You and Julie are truly great people that have genuine hearts.

Thank you!
Alex

sory to hear of your health problems. i also have graves disease. my left eye started bulging out and looking down. doc said it was scar tissue on the muscle. causing double vision like you stated. had surgery in april of 04 to remove scar tissue. my eye still bulges some, but i no longer have double vision. i was given choice to get thyroid removed and take pills for the rest of my life, or keep thyroid and take pills the rest of my life. i still have my thyroid.as long as i keep up on my meds i have no problem with my vision.

good luck

Thank you Chuck!

I didn't have my thyroid removed, but it was destroyed with radioactive iodine treatment. And I'm having to take meds for the rest of my life. My PCP does not believe the issues I'm having are linked to the Grave's disease - bloodwork show my tsh levels and anti-bodies are all normal. :)hahaha: the one thing that actually comes out normal :p )

I thought until I started this thread, that Grave's disease was extremely rare but both you and Shawn have come out.
