I was wondering if this would be beneficial, or work at all. I knew somebody had to have tried it and found a GREAT write up. Question is, has anyone tried it on a viper? I do plan on doing a little racing this summer, and here in SC we see 105-110 days so anything to cool it down would be great. Check this read out and drop some knowledge on me:

METHheadMONSTER: Using Meth Injection for non-boost applications - Corvette Forum

I can't see there being any gains to be made on a NA application.

Well, from what Ive read, meth can lower intake temps up to 25 degrees in a matter of seconds, regardless of the application. Lower intake temps = power. I cant see how this would NOT be beneficial to everyone who lives in a hot climate.

For the couple of degrees of timing that you would gain back.....I just don't see the long term gain. How about a 100/150 shot instead?

It can actually have a negative effect by making your A/F richer than needed. You could probably adjust your timing slightly, but the gains are not really worth it after you buy an SCT or VEC.

Hmm, I still dont see how lower intake temps could have a negative effect. Thats all its really for. Either that or putting an ice box around the intake manifold, which some guys do. I really want to get down into the nitty gritty on this, I just dont see how it could harm anything. Say its 110 outside, and your staged letting everything heat soak. Then all the sudden your intake temps drop dramatically from the meth, would the sensors not correct the fuel being spit into the engine? Again, just trying to think a little outside the box, but if Im wrong please tell me. Bad info hurts everybody

If your lookin to lower intake temps, just spray 50shot of NO2 down the beasts neck, its only 5hp per cylinder wont do any damage and will drop you intake way below 20 degrees and will actually give you a lil extra... Plus meth is not that good on the internal parts of the motor, I have meth on my procharger that activates under WOT but it is there to prevent detonation, And on my race tune there will be no meth it will spray 150 of no2 :).. a lil extra on top .. lol...

You've never torn apart a motor that has had meth run through it, huh? It's not pretty. As others have said, spray it with nitrous and be done with it. Nothing wrong with thinking outside of the box, but you are headed the wrong direction with this, Homie.

Thanks, this is the kind of feedback Im looking for. Chris Im not really headed in any direction, these are just thoughts, and questions. Maybe, someone will play with the idea and perfect it. I have read a lot on the matter, and most people claim that their motors look perfect after running meth. A lot of meth. And had pics to boot. I think its all in how you go about it. There are guys out there that use wal-mart windshield wiper fluid because it has meth in it. If you use that crap then yes, your motor is going to see some poor results. With the right mixture, and the right amount, I dont see how one could go wrong.

Anyone telling you not to run meth don't really know about it IMO. Def a great idea to run it. Lowers intake temps, detonation resistance...and the fact that methanol has less btu's of energy vs. Gasoline means there is more fuel in the cylinders = increase dynamic compression ratio. Furthermore, ethanol based products, like methanol have oxygenation. This means that as it burns in the cylinder it releases oxygen. This creates a more complete burn and thus creates power.

I will be running an alky control kit on my cobra. It isn't going to hurt anything. The people that say it will probably also think you need special oil to run e85 and a whole host of other misnomers.

Thats what I was thinking also, and decided to ask about it on here. My new train of thought thought is why not run both a 50 shot AND a meth kit?? I see nothing but advantages with that. Even more so, if you do a wet kit, could you not just mix meth/water right in with the NOS through a fogger? Keep in mind Im not talking HUGE amounts either, just enough to get the temps down. I know NOS would probably lower the temps more than meth, but meth adds the detonation resistance. I think one of the vendors needs to play with this idea
