Hey guys, blew my head gasket and I'm looking for part numbers for a new one. I hear the gen 4 is the way to go. Id love to do a lot more while I'm in there, but money is tight right now, and I just wanted to see what I should replace mine with. I have an 04 rc if it matters. Thanks as always!!!

The gen 4 gaskets will give you a compression bump and they are pretty affordable.

no block and/or head damage????

Def get all new hardware and gen 4 gasket. How do head gaskets even go on all alum engines anyway? That almost never happens...

That's what I'm being told by a local shop. I'm leaking small amounts of coolant when she warms up, and its burning on the block somewhere but personally, I cant see where exactly its coming from. I want to say it was running rich? I just had the canned tunes from Torrie (91,93, and 94 octane) and I've only ever used the 91 when I use regular gas, and 93 when I used premium. I also need to buy an A/F gauge. Could you guys point me in a direction to buy the gasket (and bolts etc) and a part number? Also, how about an A/F gauge? Thanks in advance!

Edit: As my sig reads---I have only installed a CAI and the SCT. The truck just rolled 28,000 miles and has never given me any unexplainable issues prior to this.

Canned tunes do run safe rich... My AEM Wideband showed 11:1 A/F at 5,000+ WOT on my 91 Octane tune. Stock tune is even richer up there.

You can get your A/F guage from JTSVP.

That is a big job. Head gaskets may not be your problem. you need a second opinion..... I would find the leak before undertaking this project...

Blown head gaskets , normally , leak compression into the coolant chamber. which then over fills the rad and over flow jug. the engine will overheat. due to the coolant being displaced by the compression. If the leak is big enough , you will see and hear the overflow jug "boiling" .. the coolant won't be hot. .... aluminum heads bolted to aluminum block seal very well......... Your leak may just be a hose!!!

Do you know what side is leaking? If your not having symptoms like slitherbeast describes above, and the oil isn't milky, pull the valve covers and see if any coolant has found it's way on top of the heads...

I wouldn't be at all suprised if you have a bad head gasket..

Based off the steam, it looks like the left side. I've never had the coolant overflow, and the oil looks to be just fine. I'm not as mechanically inclined as most of you, but I'm going to take it to get a second opinion this week. I appreciate all your guys' help!! Will keep u posted!

And the verdict is...head gasket...second opinion for the most reputable place around and they have quoted me (if I supply everything from oil to gaskets and parts) $1700. This INCLUDES them installing both head gaskets, both valve cover gaskets, manifold gasket, my full exhaust (with Bassani headers and catless mids), and my UD pulley. That's not too bad I don't think. With that being said...I need some gaskets! Anyone know where I can get the whole package with the gen iv head gasket? Thanks guys!
