Need help.. A/C will not turn off!

Just like title says the AC will not turn off. The lights glowing, when I press it nothing happens. I know its on because when the engine is warm it blows ice cold air.

I sold the truck and havent ran it since summer (had ac on last) well the guy is coming to pick it up today (cpl hrs actuallly). Its cold as hell out and its snowing, he cant run it with the ac on, the windows will freeze up.

Any thoughts or ideas??

This sucks...
 
unlug the fuse and relay then plug them back in maybe someting suck in the open circuit, or the button took as shit.

I see there is a fuse for the AC clutch. Would it be ok to run it without that fuse in until we can get that fixed?

Earlier I tried swapping relays, didnt help.

no thats just taking power away.

Unplugged the fuse still cold air. The fan runs when the a/c is on correct because thats been on since i started it.

I would, but I am not a mechanic.:eek: :eek:
 
Well it doesnt blow warm air even with the fuse out and i just noticed i cant control where the air blows.. cant control the blend doors either.. wtf.

I think the whole HVAC control unit is messed up...
 
I would unplug the wires at the compressor and tell the guy that's picking it up what happened. Give him a $100 credit to have it looked at and fixed as it's probably just a bad switch since the relay is good.

yup, this is also common on the durango and the regular 1500, funny thiing is this the fisrt dodge I have had that hasn't yet.
 
I just looked through the service manual for my 06. If your 04 is anything like an 06, in terms of HVAC woes and servicing, a visit to the dealer will be needed.

The A/C pressure transducer monitors the pressures
in the high side of the refrigerant system
through its connection to a fitting on the discharge
line. The transducer will change its internal resistance
in response to the pressures it monitors. The
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or the Engine
Control Module (ECM) depending on engine application,
provides a five volt reference signal and a sensor
ground to the transducer, then monitors the
output voltage of the transducer on a sensor return
circuit to determine refrigerant pressure. The PCM/
ECM is programmed to respond to this and other
sensor inputs by controlling the operation of the air
conditioning compressor clutch and the radiator cooling
fan to help optimize air conditioning system performance
and to protect the system components from
damage. The A/C pressure transducer input to the
PCM/ECM will also prevent the air conditioning compressor
clutch from engaging when ambient temperatures
are below about 10° C (50° F) due to the
pressure/temperature relationship of the refrigerant.
The Schrader-type valve in the discharge line fitting
permits the A/C pressure transducer to be removed
or installed without disturbing the refrigerant in the
system. The A/C pressure transducer is diagnosed
using a DRBIIIt scan tool. Refer to the appropriate
diagnostic information.
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
A/C PRESSURE TRANSDUCER
The A/C pressure transducer is tested using a
DRBIIIt scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic
information. Before testing the A/C pressure
transducer, be certain that the transducer wire harness
connection is clean of corrosion and properly
connected. For the air conditioning system to operate,
an A/C pressure transducer voltage reading between
0.451 and 4.519 volts is required. Voltages outside
this range indicate a low or high refrigerant system
pressure condition to the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM) depending
on engine application. The PCM/ECM is programmed
to respond to a low or high refrigerant system pressure
by suppressing operation of the compressor.
Refer to the A/C Pressure Transducer Voltage chart
for the possible conditions indicated by the transducer
voltage reading.

You could always try unplugging the positive and negative cable from the battery, wait, then touch the two of them together, resetting the entire electrical system. It's worth a try:dontknow:

Then set it on fire?
 
well we got some response out of the blend doors and got a little heat. It was wierd, the blend doors would just keep switching settings on its own. Constantly moving. Well I got them to where they were blowing on the window and floor and pulled the fuse so they couldnt move.

The cpl is from hawaii and have a 05 srt-10 with a roe on it i guess.
