I have a 2004 srt-10 powertrain in my 49 Chevy pickup build. Trying to get it running before I disassemble before paint. Anyone have a tip sheet on what I need to get it running? I have an 04 engine and 6 speed complete with factory engine harness and ECU. No clue where to even start besides power and fuel.

Probably should start with connecting all the wiring to the engine and tranny.

"No Clue" tow it to one of our specialty guys advertised below. If you really have no clue as to how to get it running you best seek the help of an expert---in person. :chain:

All the wires are connected, there's no lead for battery power though.

I'm on tapatalk so I don't see a list of specialty guys. Where would I find that list?

It's in the vendor section. You'd be looking at JMB Performance, JTSVP or V1R. Are you saying your harness did not have the battery cables with it?

The vehicle harness has battery cables, I'll have to look at the engine harness again to see if I overlooked the battery leads. Hotwireauto.com has a standalone street rod harness that provides all the correct connections and uses factory ECU. Looking at that while I research a few other options.

You will need to hookup the battery correctly. Find a picture of the underhood of the 04 SRT 10 and see where the cables attach. Ground would go to the chassis and the engine. The power will go to the fusebox and the starter. First thing is to get it to spin. Then to check for fuel pressure a the fuel rails. should be 58-60 psi. Check it with a gauge at the schrader valve on the rightside fuel rail.

I'm missing the third plug into the ECU, I'm thinking that's still part of the chassis harness and provides the power hook ups. I have the chassis harness still so I'll look for that tonight. Engine harness only has 2 of the 3 plugs for the ECU. Fuel I am running a 99 vette filter/regulator and a walbro 255gph (says it pushes 85 psi) pump. That filter/regulator combo is 58 psi rated but tests show 60 psi on some. Factory regulator specs for the srt10 truck say 58 psi. I'll still check at the rails. If I can't find the 3rd plug I'll buy the hotwireauto harness, it has all 3 plugs. Any suggestions where to pull an oil pressure reading, no gauges installed yet and don't want to hurt it trying to get it running.

I just did a swap into my roadrunner. The easiest way I found was to use a complete wiring harness from the key to the tail light. Especially if your doing that kind of swap into a older car. Your gonna need all the wiring anyway, lights ect.

Found the third plug for the ECU in the body harness (knew I kept that for something). I think the plan now is to plug it all in with factory fuse box/harness to power it up and see if it fires. Then final assembly will be with a "hot rod harness" to simplify it. Anyone know if I'll get it to fire without the body control module?

Anyone have a full wiring schematic for a 2004 RC? Trying to figure out what wires I need from the factory harness.

Start with ALL the Wires! Then determine which ones are neccessary and extend them to suit your required placement. Last thing you want is a mangled harness! Get it running first. then elliminate.

I have access to connector pinouts and wiring diagrams for everything. It will take me a significant amount of time to post it all here.

Would it be less time consuming to email? Or time consuming either way? I think all I really need is a wiring diagram of the 3rd plug into the ECU (comes from body harness, believe it supplies power/gauges). If you're looking at the ECU with pins to the top, it's the Left plug. Other 2 plugs are engine harness only.

The more I read, I think I may end up needing the after market harness and ECU flash to get past the theft key anyways. I don't have a key/ignition or the body control module (only have stock ECU), so I'm assuming that'll be very difficult to bypass.
