My brother has an '05 SRT Quad Cab with a cracked frame (in 2 places) at the factory welds. TSB #41 issued 1 Feb of '06 address the exact problem, but the regional guy, Craig Reed, is saying Dodge will NOT fix/replace the frame because the original 7/70 factory warranty has expired. The Dodge dealership, the body shop doing the work and even SRT are saying it should be covered since the frame should last the lifetime of the truck. It's not a drivetrain item that's expected to eventually wear out, it's the frame of the vehicle. Does anybody have any ideas before this requires legal action? The truck is stock and the heaviest thing it has ever had in the bed is a 24 pound mountain bike. It has never been jumped, submerged, dropped from a plane or even been off road. It has 74K miles, and it's his daily driver.

As nice as it would be for manufactures to warrantee their products forever, it doesn't happen. Your brother has a 10 year old truck, Dodge has no obligation to warrantee the frame at this point. If it was a recall, it would be a different matter.

I agree with the above statement. There is no such TSB #41. Where did you find info on a TSB for a frame cracking, I have never heard anything about that concern.

NHTSA Reference:
#10019604
#10019607

TSB Reference:
#41

The problem is that the dealership and SRT both said it should be covered and replaced, but the regional guy is saying "No"

I wouldn't cover it. I've searched all my data bases and can't find anything. #41 is not a TSB. It starts with the group and in case of a frame would 13 followed by a 3 digit number followed by a 2 digit number which is the year the TSB came out.

I agree with the others, I also searched for this tsb and came up with no information. His best bet is to pay the bill and go on his merry way. Unfortunately he doesn't have a leg to stand on in a legal battle, warranty is over, all costs are now his responsibility.

Well, this is #2 that has been brought up here. Guess it's time for folks to start inspecting for cracks

Where would the cracks be at in the frame? Is there a an area were it is more prone to happen? Only the 2nd time reading about a crack frame on a forum, was the last one a QC?
