Beyond the Sun....
Yesterday I decided to drop by the local home audio/theater store (NO NOT BEST BUY!!)... I was looking for a replacement to my only 1.5 year old ailing Yamaha HTR-5990 that seems to have a major heartaches with HDCP protocols... of which on Friday I finally lodged a charge back with Best Buy because both them and Yamaha could not seem to get the issue resolved (as it turns out its a known issue with the HTR series of Yamaha...)

So.. back on the story.. I picked up a new Denon AVR-2308, and Panasonic DMP-BD10A Blu-Ray DVD Player.

http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/blu-ray/usa/index.html

All I can say about this player is that is ROCKS!!! it fully upconverts my standard DVDs to 1080p which increases their performance 3 fold, and when I played a native 1080p DVD (The Transporter) I thought I was in the movie!!! wow!!!

I got a really good deal on the player... $549.00, and it came with 5 free Blu-Ray Discs (Transporter, Crash, Pirates of the Carribean 1/2, and Fantastic 4... not a bad deal.. :D

The sound and video quality of the unit is truly awesome....

still waiting on the outcome of the Blu-Ray vs. HD war...dont want to own the next Beta..:dontknow:

I went to two different stores yesterday and they both said they had pulled the dual Blue Ray and HD-DVD players due to problems with them. :dontknow:

I looked into this one... and I do like LG stuff, but what I did not care for was they are using a single processor to decode both formats, basically instead of having a dedicated circuit for each format, they crammed it into a single board... now maybe if they had a dual layer board with separate processors for each one... I might have considered it...

I can pick up a really nice HD Toshiba player for around $200-250.

I honestly at this point think that blu-ray will win... it has far better director, studio, and manufacturure support... look how many companies are making BD players... (too many to count), and how many are making HD players... one.. (Toshiba).. (with the exception of the dual format LG)

110" Projector with 1080p.

Nice. I've been waiting to get my theater room on line, and this winter should be a good time for it.

Should be pretty nice when done: in-wall 4' ribbon hybrid speakers, 18" Velodyne sub hidden behind an in-wall grill, full Buttkicker system bolted to the floor joists under the main seating area, 96" flush-mounted motorized Stewart micro-perfed screen (drops in front of the speakers), Denon receiver (used ONLY for the processor, full Parasound HCA-series amplification).

The only thing missing was the projector. I almost bought the Sony 1080p 3-chip last year at 8k, but the new Panasonic 3-chip 1080p LCD projector just rocks! 1500 lumens (the Sony was only 800), but with 16,000:1 contrast ratio, all for about 4k!

The porn industry as sign with HD-DVD exclusively, this is the bigest market in DVD sales ,this might change the overall picture, read this...http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070112-8602.html

LOL high definition porn... i'm not sure if that's good thing or not yet. But yeah this Blu-Ray / HD DVD thing is a little pointless.. someone will make a good dual player soon enough and it will be all over.

Most of the general public has a hard enough time understanding DVD's, and they wont understand when they have to purchase two seperate units to play a cetain type of Hi Def DVD.

Walmart just stated in an article that they are going to price HD DVD players at $198.
This could lead to people buying HD DVD because of price and kill Blue Ray.
Should be interesting

I have a question? With a projection onto a wall or whatever, is it really still HD once it hits the wall? I wouldnt think so...due to dust etc in the air..and its HD is being projected through the air? Dont know...just always curious as to how that works....as compared to an HD plasma or LCD flat panel TV. Thanks....
