Hey all,

I just bought a Black '04, I am really stoked. It is totally bone stock with 70k miles on it. It is really in superb shape mechanically the previous owner really babied even though it has high miles on it.

A couple of things thoughL

The brakes really squeak, I mean various pitches at all levels of braking, except hard braking. REALLY annoying...

There is no door sticker, what is my tire pressure with stock tires at 60 deg F?

The passenger side door ground effects have slid down about 1/2" on the door jam side. This causes some friciton and a lot of noise, is that an easy fix ?

How much does it cost to have my rims powder coated black ? Is that worth doing ?

Is there a thread or site that has a lot of basic information posted about my truck ?

Even though a rarely drive it ( 2-3 times a week), I seem to attact a lot of attention from the local authoritiesl. Could there be a tracking device in my Sirius radio, or am I just paranoid ?

I'll post pics soon!

EDIT: DOH!!! its an 04 RC lol sorry bout that

Welcome!!! Where are the pics? I will start with the questions from the bottom of your post. BTW where are you located?

These trucks attract attention from everyone, cops included. Doesn't mean they are trying to catch you, probably just like the truck as they are rare.

Get your VIN report from Stingray or I think Dragon can do it also. It will lots of info including your build day and time. Once you get that post the info in the 2005 master build list thread.

Lost of people powder coat the rims, but I don't know the price.

The ground effects (body moulding) are hard to keep on once they slide off. A body shop should be able to get some new tape and put them back up where they belong. I would do this soon as I had one come lose and then it fell off at a red light. This is rare though and mine only came lose because I had the truck repainted when it was keyed. I haven't heard of anyone else's coming lose unless they had them taken off for body work. Might want to look into if your truck was ever wrecked.

Tire PSI is 35-38 ish. I lower my rears so I can better traction at red lights.

These breaks squeal. Clean them real good and go out for a drive. Get up to about 45 and get on the brakes really hard, that helps. Another option is to go with new dustless pads.

I JUST JOINED THE OTHER DAY TOO! WELCOME, AND CONGRADS ON THE TRUCK! I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. ALL I CAN SAY IS BE READY TO CHANGE THESE SUCKERS ALL OF THE TIME. I CAN ONLY FIND SEMI METALLIC, THIS COULD BE HALF THE PROBLEM????

WELCOME!
Is there a thread or site that has a lot of basic information posted about my truck ?
you found it! use the search button...and there is a DIY section too! (for a small annual fee)

Sweet! You have RC. Just be prepared for the mod bug to bite you right in your ass just as soon as you hit the search button! Nice truck!

on the brakes squeeling.....probably some glazing on the pads/rotors. try taking a 3m pad and "sand" the rotors to de-glaze them. if that doesn't work, new pads from autozone (Performace friction pads....no dust) are about 45.00 (fronts). and then follow the "bedding" instructions to a "T"http://www.zeckhausenracing.com/

Thanks

Thanks flying low. the sun actually came out here the moment I saw your post

I took that picture to show off the 2 trees I dug up in my yard. I love the RC because it does everything I need including hauling stuff to the dump AND it fits in my tiny garage !
