Welcome to the madhouse:rock:
Ever since the test drive, I've drove mine like I stole it:D :burnout:

Welcome to the club nuts. You'll go bananas here keeping up with the wealth of info for our trucks, but you'll have a ton of fun as well. As far as engine break in, just vary the rpm's a lot for the first 500 but don't race it. Try to get as many highway miles as possible. After 500 change the oil even though it not required till 1500 miles from what I understand. Then pretend Thomas Magnum is chasing you in that Red Ferrari.:D :burnout:

Welcome to the board! Nice truck! I change my oil after each 3k miles. You can change your oil after each 500 if you want to. yes 0W 40 is correct for 2005.

Hey welcome Vipa. I agree about taking it easy for the first few miles. But I always wonder what when on , on all those "test drives "the car went on before you owned it..lol

Welcome VP. Nice Truck! And that's why I like Silver - Even though it AIN'T the fastest color, it still looks clean even when it AIN'T! :D

welcome, changed my oil at 1k miles. but I romped on it from day 1, kind of like a pre stage II break-in. lol

Welcome to the forums...

Welcome to the Family

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I was off island for a couple days and missed allot of your posts.

I'm going to change my oil tomorrow, is it ok to put the front tires up on ramps to give more room to work underneath? Just asking since I never changed oil on this truck before and you guys probably can do it with your eyes closed.

Any tips or cautions to look out for before I change oil on the beast?

Thank's guys. Aloha.

Yep - Ramps are OK.

One tip I can think of is to be very careful where you place your drain pan. When you pull the plug, 8.5 quarts of oil will make a bit of pressure and the oil tends to shoot out farther than you think it will.

I 'overshot' my drain pan more than once.:dontknow: :D

Other than that, Fumoto Oil Drain Valves are a nice addition. They're a simple check valve that replaces your oil plug. They make oil changes easier and cleaner!

And oh yeah, BEER always makes the job more fun!!

Finally changed the oil today. Is it 8.5 quarts to fill? Cause I put around a little over a half quart or so into the filter, and the rest of that 1 quart can and 9 more into the truck and it looks right on the mark. Hard to tell though with the clean oil and the way the dipstick is. Damn hope I didn't over fill it.
