New viper coils

I bet Tony posts the moment he has access to them...the coils...and I bet the relocation kits has been at least mentally planned...

Oh damn! Did I just attribute mental planning to Tony????

Well, maybe Joanne has done a lot of thinking about it....

I hope Tony has done his planning Prof. It would be a great thing for all of us. Disassembling my intake manifold with the intercooler is no easy chore.

Relocation kit?

i think a relocation kit will look crappy ,,,,

too much coil will be taking up too much room if mounted anywhere else ,,i have a 99 iron v10 488 cid ,,,the coils are not under manifold but up on top on side on intake and it looks like crap ,,,and i see no real open spot except were un used battery tray is ,,,but would require extra long wires to even reach ,,,,i plan on mounting them in OEM spot ,,,;)

ok here is my official answer to the relocation question.

no

reason
there is jsut too many variables, too many people would want different locations, thus having to make too many brakets, plus it would really need custom wires, (which is no problem btw)

so here is what I suggest, if Justin wants to do a braket, thats ok with me, Justin and I really try hard to work together on alot of things, and this should be one of them.

but with paxtons, roes, N/A trucks , people doing custom engine bays, I really jsut dont see being able to locate in one postion and making everyone happy.

It want be too hard to do a braket , but the wiring and all will also have to be cut and lengthened.

plus in reality, if you have 30k or more miles on the truck and upgrade to a better set of wires than oem, you really shouldnt have to change them for another 50k or so.

but with that being said, if anyone does move the coils, and need custom wires, we can handle that also

Just think guys........................the trucks will be the first to have any upgraded coils period!

the car guys are just gonna have to wait:D

Stinker, why not make something that is firewall mounted as Carl had suggested.

Well, after looking around, I personally think it's a good idea not to do a relocation kit or for anyone to relocate them. Like a few here, my engine bay is near nude with just a bare block in place and looking around the bay, there really is no viable option. As Larry mentioned earlier they MUST have a good ground and why make a hidden mess and unsightly eyesore in plain view for everyone viewing your engine bay? Not sure about others but I'm trying to declutter my bay so removing something that is hidden just doesn't make sense. Last but not least, if you replace your OEM wires with Adams Quality Wires and Tony's hi-temp wires there really isn't any need to remove them, basically, ever again. Maybe after, what? 80,000miles??? so in that regards, spending 2-3 days just relaxing/cruising and removing my intake carefully to swap plugs isn't a major issue. To me. If you had to remove the intake to do the plugs or something like add oil, then a relocation kit would be a must.

I would agree Jack. I know MSD has made some ignition systems for some low production vehicles such as the Bombardier DS650 atv. I'm thinking if someone such as Tony or Justin contacts them, they maybe willing to produce something for our vehicles. A small production run and a distributor could be had.

I have been in contact with the engineers at MSD and the way the PCM in the Viper & Ram SRT-10 is configured there is no way to make anything work with these systems. There has been a few attempts at ignition boxes, coils ect and the check engine light problem could not be solved. I started working on this with them in 04 and many things were tried but nothing satisfactory could be devised.

I have talked with the engineering depts at all the ign mfgrs and there is nothing that they are willing to do for us.

The complexity of the problem and the limited production negates anything forthcoming.

That is why Tony's coils are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark sky.
