The only downside to not having a carbon fiber drive shaft is that your truck will have a little less awesomeness than the truck that does.

I remember years ago when I worked at Acura a customer came in reporting driveline vibrations on their 2005 Acura RL.
We had to order them a new driveshaft. It came in and everyone thought the box was completely empty. Dang thing was carbon fiber!!! Only weighed like 12 lbs.

Is there any downside to using carbon fiber?

Wheel Hop will kill it and I've seen it done. It shattered one end of it. Not a lot of give when your rear end starts moving around.

What if you have caltracs or another form of traction bars?
